A friend of mine has a modern Speed FX type 16D in a drag car that has an arm tagged SAN in it. What does SAN stand for? How long ago? Would someone please fill me in? Thanks.

Doug, I don't find anything on the net for SAN tagged arms. I know Proslot used to specially tag 16D arms for groups such as a Florida flexi group & for FCRs. If this is a drag arm,.it might be tagged for some special drag meet or class. If I were you, I'd send a PM to John Miller, Proslot owner. He'll know what it is..

I just called John Miller at ProSlot. He didn't know.
I sure hope someone who does know will post an answer here.

Does your friend have any idea where he got his arm?

Why is it important that he find out?

Mystery solved thanks to a very knowledgeable former contributor to Slotblog.
My friend thought the tag read SAN, when in fact, that was upside down. The tag actually reads NvS, a drag series in N. Carolina...North vs. South. Bear in mind his motor has some use on it, it probably has some grime on the arm and the tag may not be in the best condition, so it may be hard to read. It's a ProSlot Chinese 16D motor (like a Speed FX) with an arm that is tagged, epoxied, re-balanced, and comm trued.
Kinda reminds me of the joke about a not very knowledgeable person going into an auto parts store and asking about a "710" cap because they lost theirs.

Nice you found out what it stands for. If that arm had been tagged by someone other than Proslot, John Miller might not have known who. The 16D Speed FX motor has been around about 15 yrs. so that arm could be quite old. Are you getting it to rebuild? Where do you get those "710" caps?
