This one has been in the works for a while and I was able to finally get it put into production.  Introducing the Jackal Pro.  This design will allow for a variety of multi-rail build options.  The nose was re-designed from the original Jackal to allow for multiple rails, improved strength,  and is only .7 grams heavier than the original.  The pans were lightened by 3.5 grams to reduce weight with additional rails being added.  The pin tube locations and pan dimension are the same as the original Jackal.  Additional info on the pieces are in the pic's below.  The ready to run weight will come in around 101.4-102 grams depending on components used.  Kits are $67 each and come with the same guide tongue (not pictured) as in my other kits.  Discounts for kits and built chassis for raceways available.

The Jackal Pro debut in the NERR series race at Bristol 1010 Raceway in Bristol, CT. I qualified 3rd in coupe but controller issues cost me a podium.

 

In Can Am I adjusted the weight to grab 2nd in the Can Am A-main. Congrats to John Weaver qualifying 2nd and was battling for a podium position until a bad wreck forced him to retire. Congrats to Robert Hazelwood for finishing 4th in the Can Am B-main missing the move up by just two laps.

The wish bone allows you to have good rotational flex but limits the vertical flex. This is similar to the anti-decking rail Tony P. has been developing on some of his builds. Limiting the vertical flex is important especially on higher speed tracks when building with smaller gauge wire.

In coupe the Jackal Pro finished 1st and 4th in the A-main and overall at the NERR event held at Modelville Hobby.  I took the win and TQ with Woody Hazelwood taking 4th.  Thanks to everyone who ran Dominator Chassis yesterday.

The center plate is only soldered to 3 wires in the center and it does 2 things:

1. Connects the center spine to 2 wires to create a wishbone. The rear of the wishbones are free to rotate inside of tubes connected at the rear of the chassis.

2. By extending the plate over the main rails, it limits longitudinal flex

This is basically an easier method of creating a tuning fork chassis but adds the limiter in the middle.

At the Retro East series event held at PJ Raceway this past weekend in Can Am I qualified #1 with the Jackal Pro and took the win. Congrats to Tim Wiegand winning the D-main with a Dominator Ready to Race Jackal Pro and Dan Wiegand winning the E-main also with a Jackal Pro.

Congrats to Dennis Dominey qualifying 7th into the A-main in Can Am at ORS using a Dominator built Jackal Pro.

Thanks to Everyone who ran a Dominator Chassis this weekend.

I cut the rear tubes 1/2" long and position 3/32" behind the motor bracket.  The .062 wire for the rear is tinned and cut to 2-1/16" long.  Cut a piece of .016 X 1/4" brass strip to 1-7/32" long.  Oil the tubes and slide the .062 wire into each tube.  Use the corner of the brass strip to push the wire toward the front of the car.  Use a piece of card stock from the packaging and place between the main rails and the .062 wire for the wish bone. That will help with alignment.   If the .062 wire is not aligning parallel with the main rail adjust the rear tubing.  This is sometimes needed as .047 wire isn't always the straightest. The front of the .062 wire should be touching the jig.

 

Place the .016 brass strip on top of the rails leaving a little less than a 1/16" past the brass strip.   Apply flux and tack solder the brass strip on one side to one of the pieces of the .062 wire  and check alignment.  Adjust if needed before soldering the other side.

 

Tin a piece of .062 wire and cut to 2-3/8".  Check to make sure the wire slides into the nose without forcing it.  The wire should extend pass the brass strip towards to the motor a little less than an 1/16".  Solder to the nose and tack solder to the brass strip.  Check alignment and finishing soldering the .062 wire to the brass strip by applying flux to the underside.  Apply solder to the top of the .062 wire and the solder should flow under the brass for a good joint.

What is the 'Jackel Pro' race weight?  Can the center pan be added to bring it up to 110g for coupe or flat track races?

The King track likes lighter cars, but some hillclimbs and flatter tracks need the extra mass.

Larry, the car I ran in post #19 came in at 101.8 grams with a Parma Lola T163 body. It can be lightened a bit more by shaving down the outside edge of the pans and maybe a little off the ears on the nose. Removing about a .032 from these three peices should save just over a gram.
