Hi,

Rummaging thru my stuff yesterday and found this little gem.  It was in pieces and needed a windshield, which I robbed from an MMRC body kit.  The only thing I can't find are inserts for the front wheels.

I found this car in the MRRC section on the LASCM site, but I can't tell from the single photo if front wheel inserts were included.

Does anybody know?

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Yep, it should have front inserts as well. On mine, they don't match, but that's the way I found the car, can't swear it came like that.

Thanks Don!

The box art shows two different style wheels between the front and back, so those could be correct.

When you get a chance, could you post a photo of your front wheels?...then I can know what I'm looking for.

Thanks,

Jim

The real car had slightly different wheels too.

I think Ive finally got the answer on this one.

Just recd this kit in the mail...seems reasonably complete but not mint.

The plastic bubble packaging is cracked and broken in several places, so I had no reservations about removing the chrome tree for inspection!

The last photo shows the wheel inserts included in the BRM kit. The built up car illustrated in my first post is not only missing the front inserts, but the rears are incorrect also.

Appears the top two inserts are for the rear and the bottom two are the fronts.

If anyone has a set of these they are willing to part with, Id gladly purchase or trade for them!

Thanks,

Jim

I can offer the inserts (top two in your picture) in resin, in two diameters...0.375" and 0.450"

Hi John,

The .375" looks to be what I need.

I'll send you a PM to arrange.

Jim

Hi All,

Thanks to Rob Briggs (Rob J), here is the Airfix BRM with correct inserts and lower rear suspension!  Car now appears complete and is my favorite BRM F1 car in any scale.

For future reference, John Warren (Munter) also makes a resin copy of the front inserts and I found both front and rear inserts listed on the Dart Hobbies website.

John's inserts are very nice.  As for Dart, ordered several types of inserts from them a month ago and haven't heard from them since.  Not sure if this is their normal lead time or ?...  Sent a follow up last week but so far no response.

Keeping my fingers crossed...

Jim

Nice Jim. Yes Dart=wait!! These BRM's along with with the Weslake are just about the best looking F1 cars of the time. The MRRC Honda is cool too but for my taste sits too high. Parts for these are getting fairly scarce now. The BRM windscreen especially so perhaps the hole in the front makes it fragile and for some reason the lower suspension arms are often missing can't figure why as these are made of much more durable nylon type material and flexible. I have tried with caring degrees of success to fabricate these along with their mount that sits between the rear chassis frames, fiddly but do-able out of brass rod and plate. The Hondas nearly all have broken engine detail, shame as this is an essential detail on these. Re-pop anyone??
Jim I am going to PM you later today
