Does anyone have a schematic on rewiring the relay switch on a DR 40. I pulled the old one off and tried to keep intack as much as possible to follow the rewiring. Rewiring the Black wire I wasn't sure if it was connected to 2 posts on the relay switch or just one. The Relay switch I have is #SRKU-1CT-SL-24vdc replacing the one that came off #SRKU-1CT-SL-12vdc. Hooked the Controller up to the track Red first then Black then touch White to the post car started to move. I believe the relay is stuck open. Thanks for any help. Couldn't get any help from John Anderson I heard he was not in the business anymore.

Are you referring to a full power 'blast relay' ?   One error you have to start is yours is 24vdc rated - not 12vdc.  You would need to wire (series) in a 9volt battery in order to close the contact points 13 volts is not enough to do it.  I had to do that when I used 24 volt displays on a lap counter from an HO track..

Most blast relays are automotive horn or headlight relays of 20+ amps capacity.  Several diagrams are out there that you need.

John Andrson is indeed still in business as Ruddock. I communicate with him fairly regularly by email.

I have tried to email a couple times and no response from him. Tried calling # disconnected. Well I just found out he is having some health issues. I hope he is doing better. Not Sure about full blast relay Larry, It is DR's 40 controller maybe 3 years old. I looked up the relay and the place I bought from Newark Element 14 sells the 12VDC one but were out and wouldn't have any for 2 months, replacement recommended was the 24VDC. I am sorry John is going through some health issues, I am only 70 mles away. I would of had John repair it. Thanks for the feed back .

My DR40 uses a Ford relay.  They may have changed.  Look up AB Slotsport in England or British Slot Car Racing news.  There is a single transistor contorller build by Chris Frost complete with schematic.  Also think there was stuff on here and OWH.  It's not that hard.

A 24V relay will not work without modifications to the controller. Almost any automotive 12V relay will work, but it must be 12V and should be 40A. These are commonly used as headlamp relays or horn relays in most American cars.Your local auto parts store will have them.

Thank you Tim. Yes I am still in business and yes I still am available to answer questions.

If you are having a problem with the relay-not a blast relay- call me at 657-378-5044. If I don't answer leave a number and I will call back.

Do not modify anything, just replace the relay with the same part. The relay is a part I will replace in person. By the way, I will replace iot for free. It is part of muy warranty.

Just mail it to my po box. The address is po box 6100 Fullerton, Ca 92834.
