Got this car from ebay and I noticed the front tongue was bent! After close examination, I noticed it was bent to work with the cut down guide. Wow, I have not seen this before!184327dc66c2f924956d7c05be5aa4d5.jpg

That's the Russkit slant guide. It is molded with an angle so the builder had to bend that Dynamic tongue to keep it flat to the track. Surprised it didn't break.

Those things are not made to bend.   He was lucky.   Maybe he used some heat on it?

Cleaned and disassembled the car. Took the parts and stashed it for some future builds! Will try to recondition the tongue later to get it straight - got to be patient! Labor of love!

I'd lay that tongue somewhere with a brick on it and maybe in a year it will be straight again!!

Rick, If you plan to use that Russkit slant guide you need that bend as is.

If you plan to use another conventional guide you will need the tongue flat. Good luck with that. I have taken a twist and slight bends out of these Dynamic parts. But I always think its a 50/50 deal. I believe it is a dye cast aluminum and is on the brittle side of materials. If you know how to anneal metals that might help. But I would have to know what the alloy is to advise.

It maybe a one bend per customer. If it does brake I will see if I have another for you. Let me know?

If you do decide just go for it. Place between two pieces of soft-ish wood place in a vise or C-clamp and squeeze slooooooowly . Good luck.

Got to think its a belly scraper as is ?

The Russkit slant guide has some strange dynamics. Has anyone ever explained the theory behind this oddity ?

It's supposed to bite into the slot on bends & keep the guide in the slot.
