A field of 32 WOMPS were on hand for the Concord 500 AWRA event at The Slot Car Track on Saturday, November 3, 2018. 

 

The action started in the popular Legends class, where a total of 17 cars took to the tri-oval. First up was the Junior Division racers, who as usual. put on a great show. 

 

The Junior Division is made up of younger racers (ages 5-12) who have less experience than the adult racers. The race Legends cars in the same race as the adults, but in a separate heat. Essentially, they are in a race within a race. They win plaques and other prizes just as the adults do, and are racing under the same rules as the adults.

 

Five-year-old Amiyah Wilson, the youngest racer to ever start an AWRA event, was the fastest qualifier. Amiyah is in her second year of AWRA racing and she is becoming a real contender. 

 

Amiyah led early in the Junior Division race but was overtaken by Aubree Maher, who posted her first career AWRA Junior Division win. Three-time Junior Division winner Hanna Sears settled for third, and Tiger Tim Middour rounded out the field in fourth. Here is the full field rundown.

A field of 13 adult Legends racers followed the Juniors, with Emby Love posting his first AWRA win with a 499 lap total. Five-time AWRA winner Walker McAnulty was second, followed by two-time winner Byron Peacock and all-time AWRA winner, Charles Eldridge. Here is the full field summary.

The Stock Car class was up next with a full field of round trackers. As usual, they provided tight racing and intense action. When the dust cleared, Walker McAnulty took the checkers for his fourth AWRA career win, with Jason Lambert second and Charles Eldridge third. Here is the full field report.

The Sportsman cars closed the show on the MTT flat track, with Walker McAnulty taking top qualifier honors and the win. Charles Eldridge was second with Jason Lambert rounding out the podium. Here are the full field standings.
