Over the Thanksgiving weekend racers from Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas came to dance in the 6th annual "Texas Two-Step" race to throwdown on a 140' flat track at Dallas Slot Cars in Mesquite, TX.
The festivities started on Friday with the RetroPro race. Rick Werth from KS set the tone as the top Qualifier with a blistering 3.932. Rick went on to outdance the field in the Retro Pro race followed closely by local gunslinger Casey Neubauer and another Kansas boy, Richard Dean. Junior Bailey was the concours winner.
The fun continued on Saturday with FI and Can-Am races. The Texas boys showed some fancy footwork sweeping the podium in the F1 A Main event. Top qualifier Ken Stevens led the way followed closely by Richard Hofer and Junior Bailey, with fellow Texan Rusty Trevathan running fourth. The dance wrapped up with a nail-biter in the Can-Am as less than 3 laps separated the top three. Kansas boy Rick Werth held off Ken Stevens and Richard Hofer to win his second race in as many days Can-Am top qualifier Richard Dean ran fifth.
A great time was had by all!! Thanks to Dallas Slot Cars for their southern hospitality and a special thanks to Ken Stevens for handling the tech duties as well as John Vegas for directing all five races!!

Thanks for the race report, Kevin! You had quite a baptism by fire, didn't you? LOL. You did well for your first outing against this crowd.
My angry face is due to throwing away the win in Can-Am; I held the lead for most of the race but drove poorly the second half of the race and watched my lead dwindle away until finally letting Rick and Ken through to get ahead of me. That's what happens when ya don't practice, kids! LOL.

I think you dropped to third when you stopped to polish your car (and brush your teeth) in preparation for the podium photo .
