Aaron Scott, owner of the Viper Pit Raceway in Thomasville, GA, is pleased to announce his acquisition of the custom Ogilvie-Grumpy slot car track formerly located at The Race Place in Holly Hill, FL. A huge 'thank you' to Greg Walker, long-time owner of The Race Place, and Aaron for giving the famous track a second life. I believe the track was referred to as the Challenger and is modeled after the Daytona International Speedway. The track is configurable as a tri-oval or (infield) road course.
Track placement plans are not fixed, but one thought is to move the VP’s orange track to the back room of the building and place the Daytona track roughly in the orange track’s current position. All four tracks would be in operation. Plans also include having the tracks professionally reworked and re-braided,
There is also discussion on instituting a Saturday points-race series. This would encourage participation of new drivers as well as some of our regulars who travel considerable distances to enjoy the raceway.
All this will take time, so please bear with us as we work towards a great 2019.
