Hey, guys, here is the schedule for next year so far.

 

Jan 19, Sat - Raceway.Biz, Melbourne - Can-Am, F1, Stock Car (oval)
Feb 24, Sun - P1 Raceway, Winter Garden - Can-Am, Stockcar, F1
Mar 24, Sun - Fast Eddie's, Pinellas Park - Stock Car (oval), Can-Am (hillclimb), F1 (hillclimb)

April 27, Sat - The Race Place, new location and track TBA - Can-Am, F1 

 

We will be returning to Bill Pinch's track in Melbourne at least one more time as he has chosen to keep the doors open a little longer than expected. We also have some good news in that Greg Walker is opening a new location with a brand new track in South Daytona. More details to be announced. 

 

I hope to have the race results from our last event posted this week. Also, plaque awards for the 2018 year will be handed out at our first event in January.

Swapped raceway venues for January and February

Here is a copy and paste from a conversation I had with Greg.

"The track is 85 feet around the outside with 26 degree banks and a 5 degree entry into the infield or Double D. We made sections to make the transitions so there will be no gaps. The sections will be put in and taken out for each configuration. The double D is a replica of Charlotte Raceway. The almost flat infield (Roval) should make the track a little more challenging. There will be four lanes spaced like the Daytona track with 4-3/8” center and a little extra room on the apron. The track should be completed sometime in January. I will make a special day for all the Retro racers to come and try it out."

Sounds good. It’s four lanes but it’s a place to race. Should be fun.

How does racing get handled on a four-lane track? Four heats, eight heats running each lane twice? Is there any info available about pit space?

Not sure. Will figure it out. Probably run round-robin.

I was just looking at Bill Pinch's latest post and he mentions he will begin "liquidating" his raceway if it isn't sold intact by February first.  With the schedule posted above this may not work for the Feb. 23rd GRRR race.  Wouldn't it make more sense to swap the Jan. and Feb. locations?

The races for January and February are on hold until further notice.

I have reached out to Marcus and Bill and waiting to hear back from them.

Ok guys, sorry for the delay. Just got back in town from a long trip. Hope everyone had some good holidays and are ready for the new year. 

 

So here is the deal. Bill Pinch has decided to close up shop a little earlier than we anticipated on Feb 1st instead of later in the spring. In order to get in one more race in Melbourne (barring new ownership) we will swap raceway venues for January and February. There was also a conflict on Jan 20th with the wingcar series, so hopefully this will alleviate that issue as well.
