I am looking for these TWO screws utilized in building or constructing Dyamic based chassis.

What is the size and thread type designation for the Flat Head screws that bolt the various piece together?

Also what is the size and similar thread for the Button Head screws that specifically bolt-On the Body Mount made of brass?

If anyone has plenty of these extra or knows how and where to order them and from where, please let me know.

I am building a half dozen cars using the Dynamic system and I need these screws or better information about their specifics.

Thank you all greatly in advance.

I have some of those flat heads, send me a PM with exact sizes you need and they will be in the mail.

It's been a while, but I thought those (*both the plated steel slotted-flat heads and the slotted round head in brass) were both regular #6 screws.  They should be off the shelf items in any hardware store, and in the lengths you need.  If you take the chassis to the store with you, they can hook you up pronto, and they probably cost only a few cents each.  If you need a lot of them, they are also commonly sold in small boxes of a hundred pieces.  Once you get into a couple dozen or so, the box price may be cheaper than the individual price.  *If you go to the store, don't ask for "button head" for the brass ones, they're slotted round head.

Thanks Don!  I think it's still best to just head to the hardware store with the chassis, to get the right screws at *the right length too.  #4 screws in both brass and plated steel, flat head and round head are also an off the shelf item.

The bevel angle on the flatheads used by Dynamic is non-standard. I don't recall when I first came across this or where I bought the proper screws.

I looked extensively at Lowe's and they did NOT have them. I will check at another Hardware store.

I did take the motor mount with me when I went, but did not ask for help when I was there.

As I said I have been building a half dozen Dynamic chassis based cars lately.

Thanks everyone for your help.

The big-box home improvement stores do not stock anything under 6-32. And many do not even go that small. My local Ace still

has a bank of drawers that have down to 2-56 screws in most head styles and lengths. They even have metric down to 4 m.m.

for smaller screws you need to go to a hobby shop that carries R/C cars and aircraft, and stock Du-Bro hardware. You could

also go to an industrial supply, but you will have to buy a full box of 100 or more.

Coming in late on this but I got some from Fastenal that are exactly like the originals in size and finish. Don't know if they have Fastenal by you.

I just noticed your post.  If you are still in need of some flathead screws or suspension parts.

I have a total of 42 flathead screws, most of them are new. I could part with 20 of the new ones.

Learning the info is key!

Loads of stuff going on as I am alone at home...widower and retired!

These are still in the works as others are in the pipeline already...soon to be revealed.

Miko, those two flat pieces are motor spacers for the Dynamic GE powered sidewinder. They are often missing when you find a used chassis and they are near impossible to find in my opinion.

I want to THANK everyone here who contributed parts or info to my cause.

I have worked this favorably out, so I am good!

Recent results include the CORSAIR Choti and the beautiful SHINODA Mongoose with others to come along as possible.

FYI

Here's the flat head screw specifications, matches Dynamic flat head screw, not a special screw.

David, I must apologize for that suggestion.

About 3 or 4 years ago I purchased 1000 of said screws from Fastenal for under $20. They were a little under 2 cents each.

Now when I go to their site they are 16 cents each or $161 for 1000  :diablo:

WTF happened there  :shok:

Gene was right on the money regarding realistic price.

I just don't see how they raised the price so much.

And to boot, it says in small print they will use an outside supplier. You know what that means. Mine were marked made in U.S.A.  :victory:

Bottom line is (*and aside from SlotBloggers' generosity) that these are not the kind of screws that make going online even worth it.  Any hardware store will have them for next-to-nothing.

Hi Joe

Jump back to post #18, click the link, you can still get a 1000 each of the flat head for $20.90.

Good place also has good research info.

Most slot car miscellaneous hardware was ready available stock. I can not believe someone making a $1.50 chassis would tool up to make one of a kind bolts and nuts for the chassis.

As far as " they will use an outside supplier.", basically means they don't have it, so they just find another supplier in their network that has it and it is shipped from there.

Anymore as far as manufacturing point of origin, who knows, it could be made on Pluto.

take care; g
