Twenty-four hours in the tumbler makes a night and day difference. Chassis can now be handled comfortably.
Only $29.95 each.
Below are pics of stock and tumbled chassis.
The tumbled chassis has a slight cosmetic imperfection on it (came that way), on the right rail of the center section, in front of the pan cross-member.

The real question is, does it make the pan move smoother. I had to file a few burrs that it could catch on. Not sure that it does
when on the track, but it is a process I have done on every stamped steel chassis I have ever had. Along with the straightening.
The new C-43 seems to be the best in that respect so far.

I'm not sure, with the design of the C43, if it really affected that much by burrs.
It just makes handling the chassis, much nicer.
Dave Gass bought the pictured one, and I mentioned how it was deburred, and he wouldn't cut himself, and he joked that that was good, as with his recent heart issues, and being on medication, he should avoid bleeding at all costs.
FWIW, the 2nd chassis I did, and is spoken for, I was surprised to see how flat it was.

I have tumbled ALL my chassis for over 5 years now. Makes them look better, slide better, and yes assemble better.

As I said, the C-43 has been the best for straightness. Since I can't ride in the car when it is on the track, I don't have any proof that
filing the sharp edges where the "moving parts" rub has had any effect. It's just something I have always done. Like deburring a block
when I rebuild an engine.

This may sound like a dumb question, but do you tumble as a single unit or take the two pieces apart and tumble them separately?

Not a dumb question at all.
I take the chassis apart.

Have you tried using a ceramic media and tumbling with a wet mix as used for brass chassis?

Are you thinking different material or worn dies?I've built 5 of these so far. The first 2 were bought immediately after release. They were pretty flat, had no serious sharp edges. I was surprised to see they had badly cracked uprights and motor mounts. 3 were bought last month, they needed work to flatten, had a good amount of burrs and no cracks at all.
I note at some stage the tooling for the guide flag bend was changed - Compare your ‘before and after’ chassis

All tooling wears out. In cold working (stamping, blanking, forming) the tooling wears faster with harder materials. In most cases, a
simple dusting in a surface grinder of the cutting edges is all that is needed. With high production tools, new leader pins and bushings
are usually recommended. On cheaper tools, polyurethane is often used for the strippers/shedders, and that should be replaced as
well. If good quality vanadium stripper springs are used, they usually are good for a long time if they are not over-stressed.
All that aside, if you want the best quality parts, it is best to stock up on what you will need while the tooling is fresh. Not every manufacturer
maintains their tooling at a level it needs to be. And, in my experience, those off-shore companies run the tooling until it no longer runs,
then throw it away. Which means the parts may or may not be usable. If the customer needs the parts made to spec, he will most likely
be hit with the cost of entirely new tooling.

One of the top U.S. Flat track racers was so impressed by these, when setting one up for a friend, he ordered 2.
Still at the standard retail price.

These have not been a real huge hit, but they have been a steady seller.
I had run out, so with a new order for one, I got a few more chassis in, last Wednesday morning.
The pans especially, were extremely in need of tumbling/deburring.
What was supposed to be a 48 hour tumble, with a project on the King, that I was totally immersed in, for the the weekend, along with hosting a birthday and the monthly Sunday Fun Race, it became a 5 day deal, with me finally pulling them out this morning.
While researching detergents,to wash my car with, it was explained there never use something like Dawn, because it has abrasives in it designed to clean dishes.
So with that knowledge, and other people mentioning they have used it with okay results, I want ahead and used it instead of the stuff from Buffalo worms.
Anyway, the results from the five day tumble were terrific.
Smooth as a baby's bottom.
Btw, those three marks on the left back, of the front pan shown, were there before the tumble.(and look way better now.
Next person who orders a chassis gets that one. LOL.
