Depending on your point of view (or "POV") as the kidz say :), I'm either destroying or saving this old Mura Cukras "A" motor.

Before:

... and after "The TreatmentTM" :

Now I have a clean (inside and out) and flat can I can get work with!

You're saving it :good: and the can looks great.

Have you found the "Korrect" shade of pink yet? I found it difficult when I tried :wacko2: :

I thought pink was.... well... pink! :dash2:

Heck, Rick, my old PPG paint chemist roommate told me that black paint isn't really black either...

Hi guys,

You're saving it  :good: and the can looks great.

Have you found the "Korrect" shade of pink yet? I found it difficult when I tried  :wacko2: :

Thanks Rick...but I'll be doing all sorts of unspeakable things to this motor per the owner's requests, so there's plenty of time to change your assessment.  :)  BTW, I went through the search for the original or even close-to-original color some years back, and never found anything.  I even checked automtotive and other sources, but apparently, no one ever painted a car, pane or boat "Pepto Bismol pink".  Anyway, the can isn't going to be pink...uh oh!  ;)

I have flower stickers if you want one, John

Thanks Pablo...not necessary here!  Mucho appreciadamundo though!

Hi John,

OK, assessment changed. :laugh2:

I'd restore it to stock since it is one of the true icons of the "Golden Era" of slot racing history.......... but the owner can obviously do as he pleases.

I just think a pink flower power motor from the "Summer of Love" is cool:

OK, I've been sinning some more*.  I got the can adapter to go from .250" down (slightly) to 6mm done and installed.  The end bell hardware has all been cleaned-up, and I (CAREFULLY!!!!!) opened up the end bell for a 5mm bearing, that I keyed (*AGAIN...REALLY CAREFULLY!!!) in place.  NOT period-correct at all, but definitely good for performance.  Oh and, the mags and shim have been cleaned-up, and are ready to go back into the motor.  I also dyed the end bell after cleaning it up as much as I could, so it looks more niftierestest.

*[I kid Rick T. about the details of these things, but I think (hope) he knows I have as much respect as possible for the builds he does...BOTH motors and chassis!]

The "ruint" 45 year old pink paint in the garbage doesn't bother me as much as losing the Cukras sticker - was it save-able?

Well, I got it off by warming the old can before stripping it Pablo, what's left is pictured above.  I will try to clean it and see what...if anything remains under the crud...just because.  :)

Acording to PdL the series 2 Cukras motors such as yours were available in Black, White, Purple and Pink...so you've got a few alternatives if you wanna try and be semi-sorta-kinda period correct...

I think it was listed as "Playboy Pink" in the ads...but there are probably several paint codes for that too...? :)

Thanks Kim.  I'm never quite sure how these things will turn out, but this is a nice one for sure.

I got the magnets/shim assembly installed back in the can.  I put four "dots" of epoxy on them to keep them in place and that should keep them from sliding around.  Can work is done, so I can refocus on finishing the setup by reassembling the end bell hardware.  It took quite a bit of work getting from where this started to here:
