Sunday's D3 Hardbody races at Buena Park Raceway had some interesting events occur. Towards the end of the first race (mixed race), there was a power blackout at BPR as well as the surrounding neighborhood.

The outage occurred before the 9th heat (of 10 heats). Although BPR went dark at that time, there was still track power on the flat track and the race director monitor still working!
We were able to complete the race although we lost the printout for the last two heats and the final race result printout. It was strange to race in a somewhat darkened raceway which happened to have a birthday party going on the King track (which lost it's power).
At the end, Keith Tanaka finished first with Phil Nyland 2nd and Tom Schiavo 3rd.
Although I forgot to determine the "Racer's Handicap" finish for this race, I did compile the results later as shown in the race report. The Racer Handicap podium had Michael Kale in first, Tom Schiavo 2nd and Ken Dylke 3rd.

After the power returned after about a two hour blackout, we decided to run a GTP race as the final race of the day.
Jim Lane became the 4th D3 Hardbody racer ever to record a sub 5 second lap during a regular hardbody race on the MTT flat track at BPR.
Jim also drove an excellent race to win with 263 laps. Phil Nyland was second with 260 laps and Hector Gonzalez was third just ahead of Victor Dubrowsky with 254 laps driving his new Mazda 767B.
Jim was a double podium winner as he also won the Racer Handicap podium with Tom Schiavo 2nd and Phil Nyland 3rd.

Thanks to Jim and Debby Watterson (and Eddie) for their support of D3 Hardbody Racing at Buena Park Raceway.
Thanks to our race directors, Jim Lane and Keith Tanaka.
