With some obvious errors, in the photos, as to just what a slot car is:

Yeah, the author doesn't seem to thinks there's any real difference between a slot car and a Tamiya 4WD car.

Still, Ars Technica is a respected journal and it's a good thing for slot cars to have exposure there, even if it's a bit skewed.

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

Going to break a cherry today and start my blog life - couldn't think of a better topic - giving kudos to the king and queen of slots: Buzz and Dolores. Gran kids reaching ripe age of 10 so time was ripe to buy a few toys for myself and revisit slot racing hobby from mid-'60s. The regular crowd at Buzz-A-Rama with their decades of hands-on knowledge and love of this hobby have become family – so to everyone wanting to gain slot car knowledge, head over that bridge and support BAR.

As for myself and potentially a few thousand others on this blog site; most important to have fingers that smell of oil, lighter fluid, track slime and spend hours tinkering, adjusting, designing, cutting, soldering, cussing and drop that sweet ride into the slot hole for racing time. I will remain a Retro man (if this be the current term) and stay in the 24th dimension.

Thanks to all you racers that provide guidance and gripes here on Slotblog.
