Fellas,

The next meeting of the C.A.R.S. Vintage Slot Car Club will be Thursday February 7, 2019 at THE RACE PLACE in Farmingdale NJ at 7:30 PM.

In keeping with our recent theme night practice we'll be featureing slot car stuff starting with the letter "F" for FEBRUARY...

F-1 cars can be the main theme, FERRARI can be another etc...

Fellas,

Lots to report from the February edition of the C.A.R.S. Club.  First of all we had seven vintage enthusiasts attend last nights meeting, all with much vintage slot car stuff in tow.

We had a couple of brain storming sessions on different matters all concerning the vintage slot car scene. Look at the other topics here on slotblog any you'll get a better idea of what was discussed. Hint: the discussions centered around competition...

I'll start of with some pics of the gathering and of the vintage cars.

You'll have to excuse the fuzzy pics, I'm not exactly the best when it comes to taking photos.

Glenn, Mikey, Steve with his back to the camera, Jack, son Eddie and Rodney along with myself made up the vintage slot car group last night. With lots of going on, there was much to discuss...

Fellas,

Some more of the stuff at yesterday's meet. Mikey's 1/32 GP cars, the red one is old school, the yellow more recent vintage.

Rodney's Ferrari and Mustang flank Mike's GP car. All three are survivors from the old days.

Glenn's 1/32 Manta Ray bodied thingie is really cool. Car runs a Parma I-32 chassis and a NODA produced body.

More pics from Febs. meeting.

Mikey's HO cars, when left undisturbed seem to increase in number ? Some cool cars in there that really need to be seen up close...

Jack's collection of oval track oriented equipment, some of which have been in his stable since the 1960's !

A few of Rodney's cars getting readied for some track action. In the wings is a vintage clear bodied car that is fast nearing completion and should be making it's maiden runs soon...

A Monogram mystery ...

Steve's ever increasing horde of Monogram oldies never ceases to amaze me, but this month he displayed a few surprises. First is his Monogram 1940 FORD Pick-up, molded in BLUE !!! Not Aqua but BLUE, I've never seen one before. To top it all off, it has boses molded in for mounting to a Monogram chassis. Anyone that can shed some light on this is more than welcome !!!

The orange '55 Chevy seen here is the second mysterious Monogram, clearly it's the BADMAN drag car body. What isn't clear, to me anyway is that it's molded in ORANGE ! I'm starting to think that Steve has/had some sort of connection to Monogram's "skunk works" programs and is just now revealing his treasures.

Again, any info on these two rarities, please feel free to chime in.

Had a great time last night.......Quite the gathering and lots of cars smattered about....as witnessed by Pete’s photos. And that was just a sampling of the stuff we all brought. The blue 1940 Ford I aquired as a complete kit. And yes, I sold off anything I did not need to make the slot truck. This one will be mounted like the others and my friend Tom who makes the decals will do the “Hot Rod Pick-Up” on the fenders in white and the 67 number in white with red outline. The yellow truck came out nice....It’s a “ Lemon Crate” and the louvres on the hood and tail-gate were smoothed off.........Sent Rodney an original Monogram chassis today. Complete minus a 16d motor. Everything he needs to put his ‘40 Ford Pick-Up on the track. And Pete, pretty sure you were tinkering with a ‘55 Chevy. I have brass if you need it. Will cost you a coffee and a pancake......Just that easy. I like the Monograms in their original state. Other correct decals come from Scarab, Lil’ Coffin, and other original Monogram sheets. I try to keep them pure. Driver platforms consist of correct thickness styrene and drivers K-Balled from Porsche 904’s....Scarabs, and thr red 1/24 Ferraris......all the same as the originals......The orange “55 I’ve had for awhile. I actually have 2. Can’t remember where I got them but, they are indeed odd-balls. March will have the blue 1940 Ford truck completed, decaled, and running.......See you guys then.....Heading over to The Race Place on Sunday morning to run my hard bodies with Jack and his son Ed.......Great Times!!.......Steve

Just to show, various Porsche, Ferrari, and Scarab stuff.....1/24.....It's all out of the same molds....I trim them out....glue to styrene....and make my own driver boards from mostly OEM stuff...Plus, an original white truck.....Decals anybody can get  new by my friend Tom on EBAY...From an original set that I have....

Thanks Peter and Steve for these great photos. Steve's line up of Monogram cars and trucks had me drooling for sure! Time for me to add some of these to my collection.

And yes, as Peter eluded to- there is more to come- watch for Vintage Racing announcements.

Great night with the CARS Vintage Club members, I am happy to be back now that I am retired. Little by little I am getting project cars completed and back on the track and/or on display.
