Eight slot heads showed up to race Vintage NASCAR and ProTrack NASCAR at STR on 2/18/19. Track conditions were good and racing was close.
ProTrack NASCAR
Joe and Rich battled it out for the top spot in ProTrack NASCAR. Joe managed a win by about a half lap. About halfway through the race Bob pointed out that Richs small hub ProTrack tires were not spec for the class and that the wider tires produced a track that was also beyond spec. Rich was severely beaten by each competitor but was allowed to continue albeit bloody and bruised
The race for the bottom step of the podium was between James, Bob and Mark. In the end James took third by less than an inch while Bob was fourth.
Vintage NASCAR
The grid was populated by a bevy of 50 Oldsmobiles. The only competitor not running the popular ride was Scott, who fielded a 56 Chevy (he is soon to switch over). Bob and James battled it out for the top spot with Bob finishing first, about a lap ahead of second place James.
Going into the final heat, Joe was in the barn with 86.3 laps. Rich came in on blue lane with a shot at besting Joe. Rich ran a 22 lap heat to edge out Joe by a single section. Ron and Mark were in the hunt but fell a bit short. Both cars were quite quick and it all came down to consistency.
