Some very sad news for all of us here in France, and for many international racers: we just found out that Marc Joyeux passed away in June 2018 at the young age of 67.

Marc was an electronics and IT expert, and long-time president of the French slot racing federation, as well as our Paris area club Les Marmousets. He was very active in international slot racing as well, traveling to Chicago, the Netherlands, and many other places. Marc built lap counters for some of these races as well. A life-long bachelor, Marc volunteered for more positions than I can count. About 10 years ago, he got burned out on slot racing, after doing a lot for our hobby for 20 or 30 years. But he kept volunteering for many different positions, and also set up a website to recount and save his family history.

Here's a photo of a still relatively young Marc, in the early 1990s, taken at a 1/32 production class race in Barentin, near Rouen in Normandy - on the right with glasses. Photo sent by my friend Yves Chapoutier, who started racing again about the same time I did, and also learned the ropes (again!) with Marc!

A really nice gent. Raced with him at the 1/24th International meeting held in the pits at Silverstone back in 1997.

I have his lap counter from the Grand Raceway (1988-9) MTT in my closet and a letter from Marc about it.
