Mark, can you show us the rest of the chassis in the above posts? That green Ford GT about half way down, looks to be too lisht to me. You could try soldering in some sheet brass ahead of motor between the two pieces of piano wire running to the guide. Your red stockcar has a '67 Dodge Charger body on it. I don't know for sure if it's a Lancer, but probably is. I have repops of a Lancer Mercury & Roadrunner that REHCO used to pull.

I thought that round brass was tubing, rather than rods. You could try another body, any body & see if it's driveable. if not, I'd put it on a chassis jig & reheat all the solder joints to see if some unwanted tensiion exists. i like the chassis on the red, white, & silver Ford GT. Some of the Ft Wayne, iN club racers were building similar chassis a few years ago, maybe they still are.

I actually did quite a bit to try and straighten the green car out and get guide depth etc right. The whole car just isnt built good to begin with so I was planning on cannibalizong it but never got around to it.I thought that round brass was tubing, rather than rods. Can I ask how old you are. I am guessing you are in your mid 30s, Welcome. Glad you got a new camera and decided to share here.

Hey Mark, same age as my son.
I will now show him that it's not just a bunch of old guys( I know it mostly is) and the torch will be passed on.

I think the Cobra Daytona was Revell. I had one back in the sixties, but it is long gone. Busted into a million pieces, but it
wasn't a great racing body anyways. I tended to stick with the Lotus 30/40 bodies.

No arguing with that proof.
