I'll try to remember to get some pictures during hotel room trading Saturday evening, and at the show on Sunday. No promises though as I am usually having laughs myself, and don't care about sharing!

That's okay, Brad. We already know not to depend on you! LOL...

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

Crunch, crunch, crunch; the sound of the shattering of my crystal sphere of self-assessed niceness and helpfulness!

I don't remember ever going to such a nice clean place. I do remember the old Red Roof Inn and the armory in downtown Dalton/Dolton.

See, look at that last picture; me asking, "Where else are you going to find a Cox Chaparral 2E for $20?"

Matt, it really is a nice venue, and the hotel was renovated not long ago. It does lack the "charm" of the Lansing Red roof though!

You miss the non-slot car 'dealers' and hookers, Brad? The Red Roof is still there... LOL

That was a fun time back before eBHay took over so much of the market. I used to sell a lot of used stuff there that I accumulated between shows and restored as good as I could.

One summer Mr. Blohm and his father drove 300 miles to visit me and brought me a load of used cars that became my sellers at the next show. Even back in the '80s he could always find that item you were looking for.

He just had to find the box it was in!!

Same today, Matt, but way more boxes to search through!

And I swear the stuff multiplies when I'm not watching!

Thanks to all for my best Highland show ever.

First, thanks to Al, the shows gracious host for reserving a table for me at the last moment.

Second, thanks to all those who shared their concern regarding resent break -ns at my shop, have beefed up security and am carrying on.

Third, to all the HO and O gauge customers that made for an exceptional day. Set up late, 9 AM, never sat down and talked almost nonstop. Took a moment to check the time and it was past noon, time flew. Thought I had been there only an hour!

Great time, great fun, thank you all.

Mark

Always great to see you, Mark. Just realized I had a couple questions to ask if you were there... No matter, see you in the fall.

And, as some of you probably guessed, I was too busy yapping/scrounging/selling to take pictures to show and share the fun. Be there in the fall!

After finding new homes for my Aurora O gauge collection at the Highland show, I treated myself to a commercial illustration of one of the same series race sets.

I didn't know Aurora made O-guage slot sets. That would be 1/48, close to the 1/43 that Carrera and some others make.

In the basement racers club I belonged to we did Carrera Go cars for a while. I even made silicone tires for them. But the

interest faded after a while.

Yep.

The chassis were just oversized T-Jet, IIRC.

Not sure if they were ever available in the vibrator era.

Dave,

They were 1/48, but only a couple of the cars really looked true scale, if I remember correctly.

As Mike said they were just overgrown T-Jets. Same style track, just a little bigger. Might be worth a refresher to look them up and see if my memories are correct or if they are faulty. Surely, I remember correctly!!

I wonder if their intention was for those sets to be integrated with O-guage trains, just as the original (vibrator) HO sets were. I

had an HO Model Motoring set on my original HO train layout, complete with the grade crossings with the train track.
