Use small pieces of pizza crusts to trap them.

Then sell them on eBay as "new old stock"  :i-m_so_happy:

A Windex soak worked well and the botched paint job body now becomes an experiment. Amidst my grief, I forgot to applaud Gene ZR1 for an excellent body:

-easy to trim and edges sand nicely

-perfect cut lines

-crisp features

-simply a pleasure to work on

Amazingly, most of my inside decals survived the soaking, scrubbing, and abuse. As long as I'm experimenting, I'm trying a new windshield mask technique involving nylon line. I plan use the same Createx fluorescent orange/Faswhite paint to verify my suspicion that an oily toothbrush caused my problem

Nylon line mask experiment ready to go. I tacked it in 3 places with small dots of Elmer's

One of the NH local racers used Vicks VapoRub to mask his windows & other items. He was good using it. Josh worked maintenance at one of the convents, I never knew if his Vicks was purchased or stolen from the nuns.

Once his paint was dry, Josh washed the bodies again to remove the Vicks.

Glad the Windex worked for you. Looks a lot better.

I noticed last night that hce55 in Iowa was selling clear Cuc bodies on eBay. He was asking $25 + change for one, with small discounts given for 2, 3, & 4+.

Is that the guy who says they are "new old stock"?

If yes, those are Billy Watson bodies he bought then marked 'em WAY up.

False advertising calling them new old stock because they are repops.

Anyhoo, I just washed with a paper towel and liquid soap and this time the paint stuck like normal :good:

So I'm pretty darn sure my culprit is right here:

My afternoon project will be fine tuning the rope-a-dope masking gizmo and painting a brand new Gene body. I'm back in the game Bunky  :dance3:

Hey Paul, I thought a soft piece of rubber tubing stuffed into that windshield gap would do the job of keeping paint out?

Plenty to choose from.https://www.mcmaster...d-rubber-tubing

That toothbrush looks like it's got "black mold", :laugh2:

That guy from Iowa isn't someone you want to do business with.

HCE listed a Lancer 2E from original molds, but it turned out to be a 2G.    He told me it came from Mid America  and they told him it was a 2E.    I told him I would return it sometime.    It was better than the usual bodies I have gotten from MA that come from the original molds.   It is easy to see most of these bodies just come from an over pour of an old body and that is used to make a buck/mold for a new vac body.    They have a distant cousin named "original mold".

HCE has always been straight up with me.  I don't think he has a vast knowledge of slots, so sometimes he does make mistakes.

My understanding is, he bought Billy Watson bodies on eBay at good (low) prices, tripled the price, and labeled them "New, old stock". I've bought from him before also, never a problem. I applaud his salesmanship but the labeling NOS is flat out false advertising. Let's see how many he sells at that price. I'll bet Billy is watching.....

Back at The Wolcott Cockroach Breeding Facilities, I drilled a .035 hole in the Caveman driver neck and skewered him with a piece of .032 brass rod. Later on I'll harpoon the cockpit and secure him with a small Walmart earring clutch gizmo

As usual, inside decals get 3 coats of glazing medium

Rope-a-dope mask temporarily installed with dots of Elmers white, worked pretty well.

The dots come off after painting with a Qtip and warm water

Paint popped real good and stuck like crazy

I added a few outside decals and double coated them with Mop n Glo.

Caveman driver is secured with rod and earring clutch.

Big Wheels Cucaracha is done and is for sale in Racer Swap Shop at a very affordable price

Thanks Michael and Rob. Those are almost the last of my Bartos supply of oranges.

Now I have yours and I also have some Mid-Americas. I i'll not be running dry on oranges for a long time  :)
