Just noticed that a post I made had a highlighted word(s) - clicked on it and it said "added by VigLink" or words to that effect – is this something that Slotblog is doing or do I have a trojan/virus/malware?

It's OK to be paranoid, but this is indeed something Slotblog uses to generate affiliate income. Nothing to be concerned about.
If you click one of those links (which are added without any intentional effort on my part once it was set up), and then decide to purchase something on offer, Slotblog gets a small commission on your purchase. It's usually a few pennies, but every small bit of revenue adds up.
FWIW, I tried hard to minimize the obtrusiveness of this revenue scheme to the a minimal level. As I have posted elsewhere, everyone on the internet is struggling to sufficiently monetize websites to support the cost, time, and effort they require and Slotblog is no different.
