The MDC Bat

I started this last October and has been an on and off project.

Shown is the progress so far, the mold still has a way to go.

The donor body was thick and looked like is was about 2\3rds formed and no panel lines also the front diaplane was missing..

I have been working from a few photos to restore the panel lines and the front spoiler.

What I am trying to verify, is there a gas cap on top of the right fender near the windshield?

Take a look what is completed so far and if you see anything that needs to be corrected let me know.

Any info or photos would help.

thanks gene

Gene,

Here's the best photo of an MDC Bat I've got.  It's not all that good, but even so I don't see anything that looks like a gas cap:

Maybe someone out there has an original and could post a photo...?

This was found on ebay some time ago: MDC Bat w. gas cap.

The clear body version was made from a different mold/plug.

Now this is interesting and the gas cap is there, but not present on the clear body that I can see. Also I can't verify if the clear body has the circle outline on the side of the fender. The front spoiler on the hard body appears to be an add on trim piece, but present on the clear body.

This body is bulky but those old Kemtron chassis kits and Pittman motors should fit with no problems and maybe some of the RTR kit cars.

3 good posts so far with information, it all helps

thanks gene

Mike, some of the old photos don't show because they were stored on private photo hosting sites rather than being saved on the Slotblog site. When saved here, photos don't become lost.

The master now is ready to make a mold after a final coat of red paint.

I had to work from photos for the panel lines and details, also the front diaplane was missing from the donor body and had to be made and installed.

Sometimes you just have to work with what you have, but in a week some bodies can be made.

Hopefully the bodies will have good defined detail. I plan to add the gas cap as a surface mount.

Here's the resin mold, still needs to be cleaned up, detailed and a test shot done.

Meet the Bat once again.

This is the rehab bat, the full front spoiler was recreated from a few photos since the donor body was missing the front spoiler.

Overall all body lines have been enhanced. The test shot body was pulled in 0.030
