Bottled lacquer paint that is popular with modelers in Japan. Many interesting colors. Anyone try them on Lexan bodies?

Thanks.

At $100 for 15ml, I would say very few.

Is this the same product they use for fingernail painting?

The 15ml bottles sell for $5 to $7 each. Where did you get the $100 price?

I have found reference to the Gaia paint line for models in a few places. Online hobby shop sellers and eBay. Color choice is a wide range. The metallic and fluorescent examples caught my eye. Thought that someone here may have tried them out. I know I will.

There are some paint lines made outside of the US that cannot be brought into the US.

Is it known if that is potentially a problem with these lacquers?

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

I believe Dan is in Canada. I've not heard of Gala paints before this thread. If they were available in the US, a place such as Dick Blick would also have them, but they don't.

Volks USA have Gaia paints as well as Tatsu Hobby. Both are in California. Wish to try them out. Really like the color choices.

Living in New Hampshire, I hardly know where California is. :)

These two Japanese "specialty hobby" shops were totally unknown by me. Now I've saved their URLs, thanks.

Once you have some of this paint to use, post here your results and how it was to work with. I notice quite a color selection at Tatsu Hobby.

Wow! The color selection is great. I'll be looking forward to seeing any reviews here at the blog.

And I failed to see any $100 products!

The line of transparent colors is awesome.

I have ordered some bottles of Gaia as well as some Mr Hobby paints. Both are favorites in Japan and the Orient. One of the favorite thinners that works for both paints is Mr Hobby thinner with a retarding agent mixed in. There is a local model rocket shop that sells the thinner so I picked up 2 litres so I would not have the problem of shipping it. The paint is in transit by surface post and will take about 6 - 8 weeks. I found good recommendations online for sealmodel.com and purchased from him. He has a huge selection and very fair pricing.
