Well, the 2019 edition of the Western States Race is in the books. It was a pretty successful event, with one race being decided on a coast by after the power went out. Keep your eyes out for the race report and pics.

And now on to new stuff.

Our next race will be on May 4. The track will open at 8 AM and practice will end at 10 AM.

Phoenix Ltd. - 13/37 gear ratio

Phoenix Open

One Motor Box

I have had a number of requests to add OMB, so I did. Debbie approved the extra track time. We will see how it goes.

As always, Koford 615 spec tire or any tire with a .500" or smaller hub.

The Box chassis must be as produced by the manufacturer except you can remove the weight in the front of the chassis.

How many of our g12 racers, both actual and possible, will be going to Tennessee?

I can only think of two, you and Richard. Who else?

Earl

The Koford 4.12 long G12 chassis is real popular. No modifications to the chassis allowed except for cutting the pans in the front of the chassis. No shortening, thinning, rounding etc.

Kahoza setups seem to be the best. You can use either the machine or hand wound arms. The info i get from the racers is you have a slightly better chance of getting a good arm from the machine wound vs the hand wound. otherwise there is not much difference in them.

Or you can get a roller from Forrest and a motor from Beuf and shorten the learning curve.

You can get the USRA OMB Rules online at usraslotsofficial.com  only difference is the Cahoza setups are legal in SoCal  and the Tires we run here are 615 spec

I usually do it the hard way, build mostly everything myself, even the cars I get from Forest I usually rebuild before it hits the track. Maybe not the best method to get the best racing results, but I get to learn alot about the process of fielding race cars, LOL

Not as far as I know. Nobody responded to my request for info on what people wanted to race.
As for me, I will be there at 8am and the g12 race will finish late afternoon and that will be enough for me.
if debbie ook's it and you can find enough marshalls, go for it.

Debbie said no to tmo after the omb race.

However she did offer an alternative. Run 27l and tmo on the Sunday after the saturday races or take the third saturday to run the 2 cobalt classes.

Please bear in mind I will not be able to make either of those options.

Let me know and I will arrange it and do the promo for whichever you decide.

Wing car racing growing in SoCal! Who wodda thunk it?😊

Be aware that someone has to do the dirty work and do the scheduling and planning... For those that have done the task they know it is or becomes a pita once in awhile.

Maybe a good idea to piggyback a high attendance class with the colbat cars and race 27, opens every other month...

I would not mind racing retro can am plus cars with b52 50k motors on a Sunday, not exactly a wingcar, but it will be very punched with the higher downforce retropro bodies... Anyone else interested???

Like I said before I'll think about Wings after I return from the Scale Nat's on the 1st

jason

But I'm all for racing it every 2 or 3 Months It cost a lot more to play with OMB,27L and TMO and I think it would be best to run them all on the same day if Possible

This sounds like when we have another good turn out we discuss it there with everybody.
Ill more than likley be entering in omb as well this coming race 🤫. If we can get enough people im interested in 27L as well.and alternating omo 27l omb would work best for me. The track will be better for cobalts after a group f race we would need to clean braid.

Why would the track turn us wing racers down on a race day is it just me or is something wrong with that?

I think a lot has to do with how long it takes to get things done the faster the cars are the slower and longer the Day and they wish to go Home I guess and I don't blame them 5 or 6 racers 4 plus hours extra to there day just doesn't pay off in the long run

jason

Think about the W/S 2 plus hrs on Friday for OMB wasn't that bad but Sunday was a very long day for 2 classes and 18 racers over 12 hrs they opened at 8 and didn't leave till after 9PM We need to speed things up I think

just saying
