Part of the reason why it took so long to run sunday at W/S is because we had to run 2 mains because of turn marshals. If there were turn marshals then it wouldnt be bad.

We talked to Debbie last night (Thursday) and she has agreed to let us have more time on the king during our may wing car race.

So I am pleased to announce that we will be adding a TMO race to the schedule.

We will take a few minutes to discuss what cobalt class or classes you want to run and when every month. We will also discuss what tires you want to use for tmo.

I think we need to open up the tire rules for tmo, so if you all want to respond here, we can, maybe, if we get a consensus run the bigger hub in may.

But I have to know very soon so I can post it.

Earl

I would say yes at a big race spend what you wish but some of these guys don't have an endless pocket book and Spec tires com in 615 at 14 bucks and 650 and 680 at 17 bucks and the bigger the hub the more tires you will use so cost is big for that extra .005 of speed

650 specs work good i beleive we will need to run on 13.8v for tmo there is to much of a dip in power to run 13.2v.
Is omb running on 13.2 or 13.8 and 3 on 3 off or 4 on 4 off.

OMB is 3 and 3

Power for TMO will be the same as the western states. That is something else we can discuss. Just don't want to lose racers because of to high power

What about power for 27L? Should it be the same as TMO? thinking about the times we will run the 2 of them same day like Western States and Buena Park 500

Im asking because weve seen a major power drop at the ws and this weekened even at 14.2 .
I think keep phoniex at 13.2 and the rest at whatever omb is running 13.8?

I would allow the cobalt classes to be any drilled hub (not waffled). This would allow racers to send hubs to skinner or someone else for re-treads.

There have been a couple of comments about tires, retreads etc. For right now please read the rules.

This is where we are now.

This is what we will run at the next race.

If you retread the spec tire, it’s no longer a spec tire and obviously not legal.

We will discuss this (and anything else) at the next race and I am anxious to get opinions and comments from everybody. Either at the race or here, publicly or privately.

My goal has been to build good racing and grow the entries, very tough with only one raceway and that’s why we have to be very careful and manage the expenses so we don’t drive anybody off. To my mind one quick way to lower the car count is to open the tire rule to much. There are several good tire makers out there with multiple lines. Do you want to put out large sums of money for all these tires only to find out that most of them are not fast enough?

If you can make an overwhelming case for your point of view, even if I think it’s a mistake, I will change the rules. Notice I said, I will change the rules, I don’t do votes. I have led SoCal USRA twice and grew the fields both times. I know it will be a stiffer challenge this time, but if you will have me, I will do my best for you.

Could I get a couple of racers to help me run the races? By the time I get to race, I am worn out and my racing suffers. I will load it all up and all you need to do is start it and hit the space bar for track calls.

FWIW: I am already in discussions and developing ideas for 2 more big races this year. One wing and one scale.

First of all thanks Bill Ford you for your efforts and running the races , Slot cars have grown to be a rich mans hobby , tires either way for me makes no difference but we should be able to run anything we want in G7 hence its a open class or just have hand out tires as some people will get retreads that are better anyway , for Phoenix and maybe Box 12 there should be handout tire the day of the race including Phoenix motors , no matter what happens someone will not be happy

At some of the 27L and TMO races it Track choice on tires and they supply you buy there cap on cost is 17$

jason

Some like it some don't it's done to keep the raceways open Because we all know that the racers that don't care about cost have big $$$$ or Big connections and don't pay full cost
