We are running a NASCAR 2.0 break-out using the Phoenix motors on a 90 foot tri oval.

My question is could I run 64 pitch gears and what would be the advantage if any. We also

run a 1.80 break-out. Any insights or suggestions would be appreciated.

Kevin, the higher the pitch, the more teeth gears will have, the finer you can adjust gear ratio changes. 64 & 72 pitch gears will allow for finer gear ratio changes than will 48 pitch. Keep in mind that finer teeth will also strip easier than 48.

more pitch, less friction unless the mesh is not right...  .Noise is friction.

Lots of wrecks on Tri ovals. I would stay with 64 pitch and fab a gear guard. Just my 2c.

If you have a breakout time then what is the sense? You will only get under the time faster!

The reason being is because we have an Outlaw class as well, guess I should have mentioned that before.
