This (I assume, local) guy is doing some interesting stuff on Facebook, including some humorous text.

"Trying for authentic concrete deck support columns for Lake Shore Drive – typical Illinois budget problems leading to infrastructure failure."

I enjoyed lower Wacker drive with my hotrod MGB many years ago.....

Hope to see this one in person sometime if it does not turn out to be digital 1/32.

That appears to be the case.

The builder contacted me earlier today, on FB, and along with him living and working, very nearby, it looks like he will join Slotblog.

Hopefully he will also start posting here, and will answer questions.

Especially with more people being leery of FB, these days.

Wow, that is very nice Mike. Is this a private or club track? Where is he located?

Funny idea trying to duplicate the lower Drive, but like this it looks as good as Monaco... wonder if any mayor ever considered a Grand Prix race along and under the Drive... Everytime I took the S curve (or didn't make it..), I thought about that!

It's a basement/privately owned track, in the Western suburbs.

The person behind it is a design engineer, a few minutes from my home, for a prominent area business.

Prominent enough, the owner of the business he works for, owns 400+ cars, including a $70 million Ferrari GTO.

Companies like that, run by car guys with pockets of that depth should be supporting all the local racetracks.. kids become mechanical become engieeers, would probably be good for business long term.

Awesome track! Love the over/under -I had ideas like that for a NYC themed track.. love the table that integrates car storage.

Since they straightened out the "S" curve that might not be a bad idea, but this mayor is too busy playing "boss".
