I know this track is completely diferent from the topics we see here but when i was about 5 years my father gave me one like this .

I never forget it and some years ago i found this one in an vintage toys swap meet and i bought for two reasons because i had one like this and the second reason was distributed in Portugal by my father during the slot cars glory days.

My father told me that he sold hundreads of sets like this in his raceways by fathers for give their kids with less 6 years old

IIRC, Matchbox sold a set, with the same concept.

It had a continuous spring in the slot, that moved through the slot.

You stuck a pin on the bottom of your regular Matchbox car, and stuck that attached pin anywhere, between 2 coils.

Mike, is a  similar concept  but Matchbox was an evolution of this

I had a Matchbox set too.

With the Matchbox set, how is the spring propelled through the slot?

I think there was a similar Horse Racing (oval) as I was a Christmas helper in a hobby shop early 70s.

This set is batery operated, the cars are in plastic and can not desassembled but the spring propelled is very similar.

Thanks.

I somehow thought the spring traveled in the slot.

Apparently, it just rotates, acting as a screw, to move the car.

Yep, that's it Mike.

I've seen these all over, under different brands in different countries. For the US, Kenner rings a bell...

There were a whole bunch of different setups to keep the young crowd away from our slot cars, battery-powered, gravity-powered, etc.
