I have some brand new never-used Life-Like Fast Trackers that I dug out to list on eBay. The neo motor and traction mags are flaking and crumbling on all of them. Crap! I have about 10 of them, and about 15 additional bodies. Worth little to nothing now.

Everyone might want to steer clear of Fast Trackers.

PS: I just finished the photo and it appears this one was used a little. The others are definitely new and suffer from the same problem.

They are not solid neo magnets, I believe they are molded from ground-up neo material and the binding agent is not that good, so it deteriorates.

Just to be clear, even the so-called "solid neos" aren't "solid," but some kind of sintered material that's then plated with nickel after forming. The "poly neos" are (as Mike said above) not solid either, but a matrix with a binding agent that can break down really quickly with some solvents. Never use acetone or other harsh solvent to clean this type, as they'll quickly turn into a mushy mess.

The above is a darned shame though and doesn't appear to have anything to do with solvent cleaning.

There's a guy that's selling new ones on eBay that apparently have no problems. These haven't been manufactured in a long time, so his are no newer than mine. Puzzling.

I didn't hyphenate that. That would be obsessive compulsive editing at its worst. Someone needs professional help! ;)

Phil,

You've been on Slotblog for how long and you're still commenting on Greg's editing? I only bring it up when he edits one of my PMs to him.

Where did you run that car? On a track routed into your living room carpet? LOL.

Without a doubt.

Funny that you would carp about that one edit... when others were done.

Well that's a good point, Mike. But that was puzzling. I had to look up that use of a hyphen. It seems to be correct, but how many people would have actually wrote it that way? I Google "never-used" and find no hyphenated examples. So how many people would actually write that way? It seems few to none.

I've never run that car and thought it was new. It looks new. My old eyes couldn't see the fibers until I blew up the photo.

I understood the other edits. I don't agree with them, but I've learned to live with it.

Spell checker doesn't seem to be working. That would save you some work.

Phil,

I am employed part-time as a magazine editor and after 14 years it has just become habit to edit as I read here. It also improves my skills.

"Never-used" is hyphenated in one specific situation:

Hyphenate two words when they are being used as a single adjective before a noun but not after.

She is a well-respected professor.
She is a professor who is well respected.

As to who would have written it that way, well... me.

I do use a browser add-on caller Grammerly. A common spell-checker doesn't do grammar very well at all.

One habit that has served me well for years and years is to have trained myself as much as possible to re-read emails (especially) and posts before hitting send. I'm more anal about doing that with emails than posts... obviously.

Thanks for the nice words, Phil.

I honestly do it more to make me happy than anything else, although there are a few other factors involved.

And the word is spelled dyslexia... LOL!

Phil,

There's not a spell-checker within IP.Board, unfortunately.

That's surprizing, Greg. I've visited a lot of forums over the years. This forum is as nice or nicer than any of them. Odd that it lacks something as basic as spell-check.

Phil,

There may be a paid ad-on, but I've not investigated that.
