I have four different cars shows I am attending today, so I'm not going to be able to post the Worlds results in near real-time as I would like to do. But I will have the results posted as soon as possible later today.

These links will keep anyone interested connected with what's happening in Tennessee.

I'm tuning into the G7 practice session and don't see anyone going under 1.5 (yet). Are they saving their motors, or running on less voltage, or ? I was thinking they'd be approaching world record times. Still to come?

They're most likely testing race motors.

I doubt the guys that plan to go for a high 1.2 or 1.3, will test their qualifying motors.

In my day, right before tech, while the track was still on the race power, I would take my car down the straight and through the bank, once, to make sure the gear mesh was right, and car ran smooth.

BTW Petr Krcil ran in the Semi 116.35 laps in three minutes - which makes for a 1.547 sec mean lap time.
Brad is unbelievable, losing 30+ laps in the second heat didn't keep him from the win.

Yes... he (Brad) is. But even he wasn't able to protect his car for the whole race.

At the 1998 Worlds, Paul Ciccarello, was never out of the slot for the first six heats.

The cars and tracks are too fast. 1.54 average lap?

And in the two motor race, he ran 27 laps, I assume, after hopelessly destroying his car.

I always went to slot car races... to race. Not to sit in my pits, with a crumbled piece of junk, after the first, second, or third heat.

Bottom line... as the lap times go down, so do the entries.

There have to be at least a couple of people who will remember Wells' Law, which I first stated well over a decade ago (it's in thread here made in Sept 2008 and goes back even further than that).

Wells' Law: "The faster the slot cars, the fewer people that will participate."

Since I have now confirmed this information from multiple sources, I'll make it known that...

SlotCars-R-Us 'The Track' closed for good Sunday night after the Worlds.

Rumor mill says that negotiations are already underway for the sale of the track, fixtures, and inventory.

They had 44 guys racing slightly sub-4 second cars at MMW on Saturday, and there will be 45+ guys racing a different type of slightly sub-4 second cars in a couple weeks at Port Jeff.

They had 16 racers in the final race.

In the case of G7 wings, if the goal was to make it difficult enough that only three-four guys can do it real well, they succeeded swimmingly.
