I wear 3X reading glasses for up close work.; that's the highest magnification I've found at stores.

Saw an advertisement on TV for readers.com, looked good, and they had huge magnification options, up to 7X!!!!

And a big discount for first time buyers, so I wanted to try some 5X.

Website looks good, it's a USA company, they take Paypal, good return policy, so I bought a 5X. My grand total shipped was $12.92 for a $14.95 pair of glasses. Shipping was prompt, very professional, they come wrapped in plastic (unlike the ones at the drug store with Aunt Betty's fingerprints on the lenses and greasy makeup on the bridges) with a professional invoice.

I love my new glasses! If you want more magnification and aren't afraid to spend a little more, I highly recommend it, 5 stars.

Occasionally, I'd put my geezer goggles over my 3X's but now I won't need to do that as much.

If I want to actually see the atoms spinning around in the metals I can use the 7X's and geezers together

I use my dental loupes for fine detail work,I've found cheap Chinese dental loupes if that's wanted, instead of paying $1200.I pay $150.(6x)from ebay, but I doubt that those readers are as good, but I wrote an email to the reader company to see if they are comparable.I would be happy if technology has improved and I can give up my heavy intrusive telescopes.plus I also have a microscope for endondontics which I use for ultra fine work, also Chinese from eBay $1200.instead of some which cost $20,000.and SO FAR I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY ELECTRONS SORRY.

So I try to buy a pair and I get this message:

"We're sorry, but New York restricts the sale of the following:
Reading glasses with powers over +2.75"

WTF?

So I try to buy a pair and I get this message:

They just don't want you to see the truth. :laugh2: They don't make reading glasses strong enough to do me any good. I read with my eyeglasses.

New York restricts over the counter magnifiers to a maximum of +2.75 Diopters.
The logic is based on needing at least 20/40 minimum visual acuity for distance, and a prescribed reading distance of 16".

Any more power than that indicates the need for a prescribed lens for driving due to having less than 20/40 vision.

In New York, it is not an arguable point.
