Picked this up the other day because I think I can clean it up and put it on a JAD chassis.

It looks like someone may have painted it gold and then globed some silver over the pipes, etc. It was sold on a Classic industries chassis, which will end up under a Viper down the road?

Have not received it, yet but it on its way.

I like the save.

Martin,

I figured that it was originally a Riggen car and somebody pulled the body for another chassis or just replaced it. You will be able to tell by the screw holes.

It's funny... We're all bidding on the same stuff!

Jeff, I passed on this one!   Me and Martin have  been watching that we don't bid against  each other on the stuff we both like.    I am always happy to see a friend win an auction.   I  don't have to "have" anymore slot cars.   I am just happy to know a car is going to one of my friends that appreciates it.

This one was a bit of a beater, I assumed I was the only one that would want this one.

Jeff, if you really want it I would let it go for cost ($42.99 + shipping.

I have 2 life times of projects. PM me if you want it. Like Matt, I do not have to have it. I just like the challenge of the save.

Not sure I have the answer for future auctions. It will happen we want the same parts. If its not us then it will be someone we do not know.

So the car arrived the other day and I got started on the restoration. Here are a few pics of the process.

Nice that the clear windshield was not yellow at all, it had been cleared, and it was the clear that had yellowed.

Gene if you are out there I would love to know how you removed all that paint from the "Ugly thingy."

Body is almost done, a few details like smoothing the axle slots and filling the extra body mount holes, etc.

Martin, we are good. I really don't want to bid against other Blog members. I have more projects than I'll ever finish in this lifetime!

I'm trying to figure out who's who on ePay.

I have repaired the front grill (this is the only pic of the missing nose)and fixed the split in the rear along with more paint removal. These are before pics its looking much better after the nose job.

Did all Riggen/Jad cars come with the same font numbers decals. This lighter blue seems earlier . Not as many silver details as some I have seen and I cannot find this color Watson Ford with numbers.

Was this ever a RTR from Riggen? https://www.ebay.com/itm/113692909391

Yes, but I'm pretty sure it only came with the later anglewinder chassis... hmm, now that I say that, let me check. Riggen/JAD did do a Chappy XL, so maybe they did a Lola too...

Auto World 68: there is a JAD Brimhall Lola T70, but it doesn't have the front or rear spoilers. I just picked up one of these bodies on a Riggen inline chassis, but I checked and I think the body is actually a Dynamic.

To be confirmed...

I do have a Jad Lola but not with the molded in wings.

This is a Riggen body as you know, but I thought they were only sold separately in the bag. I have those also.

This one looks like a factory paint job. Thanks, Don, for looking into this. It is an oddball.

I was just looking for decal layout when I tripped over this one.

Just finished this JADish car. It came with this body and was pretty tore up. Sorry no before pics.

I showed it to my son and said shouldn't it have a driver with an open face helmet? Yes, I said maybe. So I set off to depict the first use of an full face helmet in a F1 car.

After a bit of research I read it was our hero Dan Gurney 1968. Not in a Lotus but maybe he was testing?

Looking in my stash of decals I could not find any that look like this Jad style.

I found this pic that shows the number with the outline.

Did anybody ever make repos of these? Great looking numbers IMO.

Thanks, Don, for sending me body clips. That gets me much closer to a finished car.

Bruce Patterson has 30-40 different numbers fonts available. He might have that style

I did look for decals at Patto's Place but you have to search by letter. So I tried J for Jad, R for Riggen and then gave up. He has no search bar that I could see.  :dash2:

Hang on, forgot its N for numbers, looking now

Found them,Number Sheet 9 - Shadow Style - available in black, white, and any colour - please specify when ordering

:) thanks Matt for the reminder.

I see now it is close but NOT a match :shok:

Not the simplest decal list to navigate, but he has a lot of stuff hidden in there that you can't find anywhere else.

You sure did a good job on those bodies.

This is the correct font with its straight lines. But it has no shadow line as used on the Jad cars.

Thanks Matt.

Still on the search.

That looks like a Russkit sheet Martin, so I looked in my Russkit envelope - found a couple shadow type decals, but not quite the same. I have a white sheet like your's above, so maybe you could roll your own!

You are correct Don, thanks for looking, that is a Russkit sheet, its bigger (or I should say bolder) than what I am looking for and doesn't  have the offset shadow line.

Near as I can tell this Jad font is n/a.
