Coupes on the Figure 8 – 6/25/19

 

 

Seven drivers ran their retro-coupes on the Figure 8 at MVH this past week. Racing was in the 4/4 format.

 

Peter Lentros was fast from the start, enjoying a 7-lap lead by the change to the inside lanes. Meanwhile, Bob “Woody” Hazelwood and Richard Payne were tied with 198 laps each in the battle for 2^nd. Rich Girvin and Tom Smith were in a close race for 4^th, 6 and 8 laps back respectively. It was good to see Dick Griffin back racing on a Tuesday at MVH, running in 6^th place and enjoying a 7-lap advantage over Wayne Secore.

 

Woody poured it on in the second half of the race, opening a 9-lap lead over Richard P and closing the gap to Peter, but when time ran out, he was still 6 laps short of a win. The race between Rich G. and Tom stayed the same as Rich maintained his 2-lap lead. The order down through the rest of the field remained unchanged.

 

Peter and Woody shared the best lap time of the evening with identical 3.289 second laps.
