Nice work Pablo. Boy that Mississippi water really makes the chassis shine!

Thanks Capt. Rick You'll never guess what color lead wires I selected for Red's car, so I'll tell you.

Simple piece of tube soldered to one end of the front axle makes for independent rotation a-la-Tony P. method; one wheel set screwed to the axle and the other free. Wonder why they didn't do this back in the day, since there was no rule against it?
Motor attached with brass 2-56 machine screws. She snugged up nice-n-tight to my bracket face doubler and passes the "did the amp draw change after motor was installed?" test with flying colors

3 coats of nail polish on the fronts
How do you get that silky effect?
Posted 24 November 2019 - 10:26 AM
Nothing special. Maybe it's the fact I used extra hard D2F JK donuts. Also, I ran out of Broadway nail polish and am now using Sally Hansen, maybe it's better. I just don't know. Despite the fact the donuts are extremely hard (non-porous) they sure soaked it in like a sponge. After 3 coats the OD had only changed about 1 thou. They are now slick as glass.

Where's the Sally Hansen's come from?
I finally just found the Broadway!

Got the lead wires set for proper self-return, the rear wheels etc. all ready. And, she failed the drivetrain test miserably
Reason: my fault, I thought I had long ago discarded all steel Parma pinions. This one slipped through the cracks. You'd think a Parma pinion would mesh with a Parma pink crown. They don't. Every single one of them are junk. Normally I can spot the notoriously bad Parma 48P 9T a mile away, but this 7T slipped through.
No biggie, I have a Sonic here that will work fine.......

Parma pinion removed, Sonic pinion installed. This was a painful mistake on my part - motor had to come out, then be re-installed. It required acid, so everything had to be re-bathed and gently scrubbed with baking soda and liquid soap.
I figured, as long as I'm playing with a hot iron and acid, might as well install a brace to the motor up front to prevent the dreaded "tail-wag" effect. A short piece of brass rod now connects the rear body mount tube to the brass gimbal gizmo. The motor is not going to move. (Note - all I can say about the drop arm solder is, it ain't my work, it ain't pretty, but it's on there real good)
Body is mounted and trimmed, awaiting a painted interior from Chicagoland Raceway

The difference is like night and day, the Sonic pinion drivetrain test was silky smooth
I had to make a clearance hole for the top of the motor bracket. It also allows the endbell hole to breathe (not that this motor will get hot) Car is done, with the exception of a driver which will be coming soon
I don't remember who painted and gifted me this body. If it's you, stand up and take credit, you did a nice job and this car is a perfect home for it

Looks really great! I so much appreciate having this fine memory. Your time and effort are deeply appreciated. Dallas is doing OK. They don't think he had a stroke a while back after all. Just a mix up in his meds. He is still having good days and bad. Sorry to say more bad than good. He has fallen out of his wheelchair a few times lately with no damage to him or the floor LOL. I think he just forgets he doesn't have any legs. I wish he was in a frame of mind to know about it. I may take it and let him see it and see if it sparks any good memories. As for now, All we can do is pray.
