Does anyone have an American Model Car Raceways Power Supply Panel (see picture) that they would be willing to sell?

It doesn't have to work as I am only really interested in the front panel and the large Rheostat/Potentiometer.

It can have a few blemishes but I want one that is at least "presentable". Thanks!

I don't recall ever having seen one, but was that really a rheostat, or maybe instead a Variac feeding a transformer/rectifier?

Only reason I ask is because that meter looks like a voltmeter, which with no car running (load) to provide a drop, with a series rheostat it would always read the supply voltage so there would be no change in reading no matter where the knob was set. I also find it interesting that the only visible cooling hoes are in the opposite corner of the chassis.

Not that it matters much, I guess. Just curious.

(Is John Ford still around?)

On second thought it's probably not a Rheostat since it doesn't have to reduce the amperage. I believe it's actually a heavy duty potentiometer as I'm pretty sure the AC->DC transformer is in the box mounted to the back of the panel.  The attached box has cooling holes to keep everything cool/ventilated.

It is a VariAC. Don’t remember the rating but it’s big.

OK, it's a Variac!  Geeez, what do expect from a Mechanical Engineer? :D

Mike (or anyone else) got a spare for sale?

Earl:

Yes I saw it and bid on it, but lost, that's why I'm asking here.

Thanks!

We had one at Georgia Hobby Center on the 90'  American Black we had. I don't remember where that track went to.
