Why the date change from 8/31 in the published schedule?

Why the date change from 8/31 in the published schedule?

The schedule was revised months ago since it was on Labor Day weekend. The track requested it.

Thanks Joe.  I never would have thought of following that thread after printing it when it first came out.

What is the braid depth? I think it has been rebraided when moved.

Cheers

I think they said it was 020", but I'll check tonight and confirm.

Update: 020 is a good starting point.  The depth should be much more consistent now.  The track is smooooth!!!  Also, a lot more pit space, without them having to cover the dragstrip or take down the oval.    If you have a light to go onto your pit box, be sure to bring it as they are still working on lighting, some pit areas are a bit dark.

Be forewarned, the walk from the parking to the track is a bit of a hump, if you have a wheeled luggage carrier, you may find it helpful. And there are ten steps down stairs into the raceway. A small sacrifice to make sure the raceway stays in operation.

Oh, and better access to the back side of the donut!   :D

Preston had mentioned he might be switching glue formulas.  Anything on that?

IIRC, he said he has some of the product used in the past saved specifically for Retro East races.  For other races he'll be using Koford.  Which means the traction will be slightly different most of the time.  Since the track was prepped for the ECF series race this weekend, that's what was used. Traction was good, I was into the 3.6's with an older car I don't normally race anymore, and the track was very fresh with no rubber on it. Still using Thunder and Wonder tires even with these conditions.  The glue will not be a factor, either way. My bet is new track records will be set, the track is very smooth and fast.  Gene did an amazing job rebraiding before it was moved, and the set-up was very well done.

I figured a lot of people are coming from a distance, and it would be good to give them the "lay of the land".  Track condition will be top notch, no worries there, and pit space is probably at least 2 times what it was.  Access to the raceway has some difficulties, but if anyone needs helping getting their stuff down and up the steps, I'm sure everyone will be willing to lend a hand.  But it's better than seeing this track put into storage or sold.  They've been in the facility only a few weeks, so not everything is perfect, but they're working on it. The main priority was the track.

If you park in either of the lots at the bottom of the picture, you can walk up the left side of the building, between it and the adjacent building. Also note that the "drop off" point is narrow so you will either have to back out or back in, no room to turn around (trust me, I checked it out...). And you can't drive all the way around to the entrance...tried that too!   :laugh2:

There is a sign for Fast Tracks right at the entrance to the driveway
