The sensitivity potentiometer is no longer working.

Anybody know what ohm range I need to run these Hawk 7 and Pro Slot 4002 motors?

Gatormark, unless you have physically damaged the sensitivity pot it is unlikely it is blown. The pot is 5 watts and other components in the circuit will blow first.

Do you have any power on the bands? Since the controller is so old please check the skinny white wire that comes off the wiper button for a break in the wire. Pull the wire apart where it bends behind the trigger to see if the insulation pulls apart because the wire is broken inside.

Otherwise look for a broken wire or it could simply be that the transistor is damaged.

OK, easy. most likely the resistor in holes D and H is broken (give it a little pull to see if one lead is broken) or has a bad solder joint. Have you changed this resistor lately?

Also check for a broken wire or bad solder joint at the heatsink

Just for giggles, i have cheked the sensitivity potentiometer with an ihm meter metween the two tabs that are soldered to the board and dont have any variance when i move knob. Perhaps this is not the way to ck it?

do you get any ohm reading at all? it should go from about 0 to 50 ohms. Check it from the center terminal to the unused terminal and you will get ohm variance.

In my experience with wire wound pots, they can "take a set" . If the pot is not moved occasionally the plastic that the wire is wound around can deform or melt.

If it were mine, I would send it to the maker and get it replaced.

John, there is not enough amperage in my design to melt the sensitivity rheostat in any situation.

Mark, send an email direct to me so we can find your issue without having to send it in for service. Or call me at 772-334-1987
