My wife called me and said I already my Ebay purchase has already been delivered.

I asked her how does the car look, and she answered "Fine, I guess, it's red".

She added "The seller included a note wrapped around what I guess is a motor. The note said 'Thanks for doing the buy it now. I included a motor, I don't have a use for, no charge. It's pink....give it to your wife'."

She commented "It's got a 60's, hippie style flower on it".

I'm curious if I'm right about the shiny wires indicating rewound and epoxied?

I have lots of those flowers if you need. And don't forget my offer to do any refurbs it needs no charge. Including a new body.

You want  a picture?    This is not Mikes Bandit, it is the one I gave to a friend a few weeks ago!    He finished a new body, the old one is in the background.

Tell us how it runs, Bandit's are cool cars.

When I was a kid the last slot car I had when the tracks closed was a Bandit.

Pablo, So are the hippy flowers all the same or do they vary from motor to motor ? I’ve only seen a couple . I’d like to repaint the pink one I have but the flower sticker would not survive.

Phil, I would recommend NO repaint, its a survivor and to me it looks great as is.. Maybe just carefully clean the crud from the edge of the sticker.

Mike, Great deal, I bet your Cukras flower power motor is worth more than the Bandit IMO.

I wouldn't repaint it either. That would devalue the crap out of it.

That's a "flower power" flower, not a hippie flower. You fellow old fart should know that.

I don't remember greasers having those flowers on their 69 Chevelle's.

They were typically on VW micro buses, driven by free spirits, which I think can be also called hippies.

Regardles, it was a story, attributed to my wife.

That is one sweet looking Bandit Matt! To me they are sort of like XKE Jags as both have such a timeless beauty to their body lines.

Not really worth arguing about but for what it's worth:

I use Google to find the most common use of a term...or whatever. It works for a lot of things, and I do it all the time. I searched:

hippie flower - 67,100,000 hits.

flower power - 661,000,000 hits.

Not really worth arguing about, but you will anyway, Phil. Lol.

You crack me up.

It was a minor reference in a factious/preposterous story, I concocted as a tweak towards the person who chided whoever (in this case me) would pay the $65 "Buy it Now" price, when they could of bid $50.

Well, if I did, I obviously would of not gotten the car, as 3 other Slotbloggers chimed in, they would of scooped it up at that price.

It wasn't meant as a historically accurate statement about the history of the Flower Power sticker.

The motor appears, like the car, to be bone stock.

By the wear on the gear train, my guess, the car was run a few times.

Maybe 6 times, or by B & C Hobby & Trains parlance, a "buck-fifties' worth".

It looks like it's in great shape.

A crack in the nose of the body.

A discolored, "rusty" clear canopy.

Some of the aluminum is corroded a bit, like the right braid screw.

Some colors, are really hard to photograph.

Below are pics of the car in my makeshift photo booth, at my late breakfast/early lunch.

Mike, you're rewriting stories! What I did say, was since you were willing to pay $65, bid $65 instead of using the "buy it now" button. There were no bids & since it's not a pristine item, there might not be any. With no other bids, you would have paid the opening bid amount, or $50, regardless of your maximum bid amount. I doubt other bidders would have outbid your $65 amount, so as a worst case, the most you would have had to pay was $65,  If by chance, someone had outbid you, then let it go, there will be others coming down the road.

This type of bidding wont work with highly sought after objects, but in a nutshell this car could most likely have been obtained for less than what you paid. That' was my point in the first place, not knowing who had bought the car. Since you're happy with it, so am I. :)

Thanks for some absolute bad advice.

There were no under bids?

How long had it been on eBay?

Discounting all the "wish we would have seen it first" comments, in the original thread, go read post #4 in this one, tell me how I would have possibly gotten it?

And when you run a business with an inherently bad business model, and a landlord who likes her rent on time, every month, I don't have time to scour Ebay for the "other one to come along".

Well...aside from all the other stuff, Bandits are just plain cool cars, and they somehow managed to run pretty well in a "always tail-out" kinda way.  Personally, I think you scored!
