Cyclops tribute car to Stan Mott. This little car has captured my imagination from my early teens and 15 some years ago I started to build the chassis and assembled it a few days ago. The body I had planned to build from balsa until I purchased a 3D printer a few months ago and decided to design a highly modified drivable slot car. Here is what I have so far. Chopped channeled and dropped! Also has what I call a "floating" guide mount. More later.

Love the brass work........ not so much the proposed body.
Have you thought of having independently rotating front wheels considering the guide placement?

Your modern take on the body I find "fabulous!"
Which is why I'd like to see this as an actual size electric car - what a headturner it would be!
In fact, from my initial experience, actual car bodies have been 3D reproduced and "rebodied" over actual running car chassis.
In the mid-nineties, I had the privilege of working on Graham Hill's F1 race car - (I have no idea which one that was - the owner brought it in to repair the tub/body) and then a team of gentleman came in to 3D scan and print the body in sections; should any damage occur when he eventually started to race the car in the vintage races.
So, 3D printed bodies seem the way to go. Though I still like fabricating body panels from sheetmetal/aluminum - helps keep my mind sharp! LOL
I've done a couple of rebodies during my restoration days - always wanted to rebody a Tesla Model S platform!
It is unfortunate Tesla would not sell me just a running chassis - their chassis display in their showroom is what inspired me to want to do something like this.
Just "imagineering" again - LOL!

Just put a 36D slot car motor in a Smart car and no one could tell the difference.

I had a sub to Road and Track for many years. Loved Stan Mott's contributions over the years but "Cyclops" was never an inspiration to me. But nice to see you like it and were inspired.

I had a sub to Road and Track for many years. Loved Stan Mott's contributions over the years but "Cyclops" was never an inspiration to me. But nice to see you like it and were inspired.

Thank you Ernie. I have had a chance to run it yet as I don't have any track near me here in Oregon. The car will be up for sale soon and possibly the new owner can report on how it performs, it will be interesting I'm sure.
