Fellas,

The Sept. meeting of the C.A.R.S. Vintage Slot Car Club will be held Thursday Sept. 5th, 2019 at The RACE PLACE on

Rt. 33 w. in Farmingdale N.J. at 7:30 PM.

In keeping with the theme, we'll be looking for slot car Stuff Starting with the letter "S" for September ...of course anything slot car related that you wish to bring along is welcome.

Don't forget this Saturday August 31 at DOM'S RACEWAY we'll be racing VINTAGE SLOT CARS, doors open at 5PM I believe with racing to start a bit later in the evening...loaner cars will be available.

Guys,

With the thought of a swap meet type of meeting, it might be a good time to bring out some brass/wire "angle winder" chassis for others to peruse for some future vintage racing classes that Glenn mentions.

I have a couple that I might let go and there are still some PARMA bodies out there that would fit the class. Outasite also has a good number of period era bodies available...

Not a one, Pete :(  Lots of talking about racing, T-jets and clones, and a couple people walked away with boat anchors lol.

Steve, I'll have something to show you next month.

Steve- no, never saw this one in white. Is the one in your picture painted or molded white?

at our next club meeting night i plan to track test hardbody cars on the Cyclone track. When i ran one last time, due to the smaller track size, the car did not get up too high in speed so it tended to stay in the slot. This is compared to racing hardbody cars upstairs on The Red Lightning, which has several longer straight sections.

I really enjoy all of your Mongram builds. I have many Monogram model kits that i plan to (eventually) get around to bulding into slot cars. I need to buy some chassis kits and a few other Monogram parts to complete them.

Here's an unusual color that STeve turned me on to.   I never knew the original 1963 issue truck had some bodies molded in turquoise with slot car mounting posts.   I figure they must have  needed more production and did some double duty with  the slot car molds.

Steve,  I found  an old built up model with the right bed.   Like the one you have.    I got a better built up and used it to rebuild with the slot car bed.   Never knew they put slot car bodies in some of those early model kits till I saw yours.   Thought the off white was the only original color.

Matt- that is sweet!  Another Monogram sight to see is when Steve brings part of his Monogram slot car collection to The Race Place and runs them on the track. It is true slot car history live and in person at our vintage slot car meetings.

Glenn, he's been showing off those Monogram cars for a few years!    He's got a nice collection of them.   Thing is in 1963/64, they were a quick jump into the slot car market for Monogram.   Didn't matter that they weren't really good runners with those tall, heavy bodies.    Over the years  lot of us have learned to have fun running those cars together  and not mixing in better handling cars.    When those cars are raced together they can be fun, kind of slow, and fun.   Did I mention fun?
