I have been afforded the opportunity to open a Maximo collection museum in downtown San Antonio! It will be called the San Antonio Slot Car Museum!

There are several great Museums in San Antonio especially the Hertzberg Circus Museum!

My brother is going to open a vintage Kart Racing Museum and also a retro Arcade Game museum along the famous River Walk in downtown San Antonio Texas and he is giving me a room to do this.

It will be a real functioning museum and open five days a week when operational. The hours will be 10AM to 6PM and admission will be free.

I am posting groups shots of the cars that will be on display in retail style glass cases. The first group are vintage RTR (Ready To Run) slot cars from the 60's.

More cars to come!

Max, great collection of cars! Thanks for posting the photos. I was going to say call yourself  "The American Thingie Kingie", but I guess not. :laugh2:  As you get other cars to place in your museum, be sure to show us their photos too. :)

More photos of additional cars to come!

Ar you going to have a small track to show some cars runing ?

The room may not be large enough to accommodate a track of any size, but there will be a map to show where slot tracks are located locally, especially Jim Honeycutt's Magnatech Raceways. Maybe a video of Slot Racing activity.

This maybe a year off from fruition

Another groups of Modern Thingies for the fledging Museum.

I always thought that when I retired that I would have a loft along the River walk.

Things just don't seem to work out in life though!

The River Walk is gorgeous. I did the barge tour when I was down there for the O-Scale train meet. San Antonio

is still on my short list of destinations to live out my final years.

My collection of slot cars owes a thanks to many people, but let me say that a few are important to acknowledge...

Gene Adams, Jairus Watson and also Victor Ferguson, Randy Black, John Havlicek, Pablo, Mike Zimmerman, Don Siegel, John Dillworth, Steve Okeefe and the Kingie himself Edo Bertoglio.

Thanks to all of you and a additional cast of thousands.

More slot cars for SA SCM!

Today I post the final group photos of what I have for the SA SCM.

There are many more cars to come but still in the construction phase.

The second photo represents the cars that have gone on Proxy adventures!

Art cars.

Like seeing old friends. It s a great body of work. I remember all except the Shinoda red white and blue.Must of missed that one.

Will you show the concept sketch's with them? Might be fun, maybe you could make coloring pages for the younger kids to color.

If does not get them involved I not sure what will.

My current fleet of Whisperjet Rentals Cars!

In order to promote Slot Cars, with some possible sponsorship I want to give out "vouchers" for FREE track time at Jim Honeycut's Magnatech Raceways.

Visitor's to SA SCM that fill out a registration form will be mailed one of these special vouchers to use running one of a fleet of Parma Whisperjet that I will situate at this slot car track. The track time will be paid for by the sponsor, whoever that may be at that time.

The sponsor will be promoted as well through materials at the time of registration and at the Raceway at the time of free track time with everything provided.

Max, just a suggestion. If you get local businesses to sponsor the cars, how about putting those businesses' names, address & phone number on the cars as free advertising. Then you would have a 2-way street, with businesses sponsoring the slot cars & those slot cars promoting the businesses. This might appeal to auto dealerships, other automotive groups, as well as a wide field of other businesses, groups, & individuals. I've heard this talked about in the past, but I've never seen anyone actually pull it off.

Bill,

Exactly the kind of program intended by this concept!

The cars are marked for my original intent and that was to entertain family. Can never seem to pull that off so of course they should be rebadged for the sponsor benefit.

Hi Max,

From the silicones(?) on the back, looks like that one's a runner! If so, how does it run?

Mine is still being restored, so haven't tried it on the track yet...

The 2E's are neat on the track, but the Dinorachas have always been faster on my tracks.     I Still one of my favorite cars.   There are enough cut up tupperware bodies  and resin parts that it's not too expensive to put together a runner with a working wing.    You can run them hard and not worry about tearing them up!

Don

Don,

It's a runner alright and runs very well!

I have removed the decal from the top of the wing as well.

I have had to do some work on this one as some of the body parts were either missing or had come off.

One of my favorite cars as well along with my Cuc's.

Hell, all my cars are my favorites!
