It's very timely that earlier this week, there was a lot of Dynamic Bandit discussion  I’ve always been a huge fan of this car and apparently, so is Mike Swiss! In fact, I am such a huge fan that last year, I took up the quest to resurrect my old Bandit (http://slotblog.net/...of-two-bandits/). Sadly, life got in the way and I am just now getting back to this endeavor.

And if you read thru the earlier post, Martin immediately noticed I did no have the body mount. But again Gene/ZR1 came to my rescue and sent me a scribed copy of one of his originals. I thought about the labor involved and decided to go a different approach. Instead I would model up the outline and have some laser cut instead. I ran the idea off Gene and he liked it so much, he actually gave me one of his originals so I could get more accurate measurements. Well it took three tries but the final results came back better than I could have hoped. In fact when I lay the original on top of one of my repro’s it’s a perfect match! What I hadn’t anticipated was how many people want these … I printed a dozen and all already already have homes.

So…

If you want one of these, I’ve attached the SVG file from which mine were cut. It’s a file format recognized by all modern browsers so I you drop this file into Chrome, Firefox or Safari, you can even look at it. Anyway, you can send this file to any laser cutting shop and they will be able to cut you as many as you like. I might suggest asking who else might like one since cutting them in bulk is way cheaper.

Apparently Slotblog won't allow me to attach SVG files so if you want the outline file, send my your email via PM and I will send you the file via email.

Awesome, Larry.

That was one of the things that drew me to the Bandit.

The bespoke components like the combo drop arm/front axle carrier, and the one piece body mount.

That extra little notch for clearance for the endbell housing is just so cool.

Not sure if I'm going for it now, but maybe!

These mounts also work great to mount Indy car bodies to the old Dynamic chassis

I'm not sure what Martin's above post means (is he going to give them out for free?), but if anyone wants any of the below, I can get them in a few days.

They are CNC machined, so note the radius in the inside corners.

They would be $7.50 each, & shipping.

Maybe a donation to Slot Blog after you receive them and are happy.

I am about a week to10 days away from having  enough for all our SB folks.

They cost me a couple of bucks. But I am happy to give back to SB,a place I get pleasure from.

The process I am using will give square corners where they fit to the body and my goal is to make them identical to the originals.

The thought was guy could easily square the corner with a Dremel 409 disc.

If you have a source where they only cost you $2 each, and pass unlimited amounts along to Slotbloggers, for whatever they are willing to donate, I will pass on running an ad for them.

Methinks the value of the Bandit and Super Bandit just went down a tad with these repop mounts as they were very hard to find until now.

It would be nice if the value went down to a low enough price  that anybody that wanted one could afford it.   Or the repro parts allow everyone to build one, if they want.

Something about sharing old slot cars and parts with other  guys that makes this a fun hobby.    Sure collector cars can make you money, but friendships are way more important.

That's the stupidest thing I have heard in a very long time! Slot cars are not an investment commodity like gold or land, but rather a fun hobby to be enjoyed by as many people as possible. Repro parts and bodies allow a greater number of hobbyist the luxury to SHARE and enjoy the fun that it provides.

I do NOT enjoy paying extremely HIGH prices for slot car stuff I want. In ten or so years most of this vintage stuff will become worthless because those of us who will remember the slot cars of the 60's will be gone and the newer generation will care less for what we treasure now.

For those who want more Dynamic chassis parts, why not 3D print the pieces? Build in weight pockets, if those are needed. If a family of different motor carriers was duplicated, people could run whatever motor they wanted, It could even be possible to build F1s, sportscars, & stockcars using them. It would take some up-front money to initiate, but is there really a market for such an undertaking?

I made a simple observation which happens to be true.  Unlike you, I was not passing judgement on anyone for manufacturing repop vintage slot car parts.  And yes to some collectors, vintage slot cars was and is an investment.  To others, they are willing to pay high prices no matter what the cost knowing full well they will probably not be able to sell their vintage slot cars for what they paid for them.  Some day everyone will either sell their slot cars, give them away or have their heirs throw them in the trash.

I wish somebody would 3D print a replacement WING for the Classic Stinger.

I still can't find one and several attempts to get one from TrueScale have failed.

I have even drawn one up on graph paper.

Your viewpoint implies that only the rich or very fortunate can get these rare treasures.

Slot cars I could NOT afford as a kid now leads to slot cars I can't afford as an adult!

When value is the priority over happiness then only a few can enjoy these rare items.

I champion the idea that modern replication using high technology enables the more having than just the few.

Even if only for a short time I want to own what desired slot cars I want

It is wrong for those who have more money than god to buy up anything that appears and HOARD it in the guise of a tax break!

Sorry but I dream on...!
