...and having zero luck. I found rattle can lacquers but no acrylics. Why can't I find a nice metallic root beer for a Dynamic Bandit PTEG body? Maybe I'll try mixing my own; Bill says gold and red works.....
Any ideas? Thanks

I've done gold under a candy red fog, not root beer for sure (although it does look nice...). Createx has a ton of different colors, try transparent brown with "aluminum" underneath. The aluminum has fairly large particle sizes for a silver. Or maybe their "sparkalescent" bada bing silver. Check their website

Most, if not all, of those are not acrylic. All are very expensive. The only one of the bunch that looks like it "may" work requires a "reducer".
One of them says it's an "acrylic enamel" and takes a week to dry LOL
Appreciate the efforts, Jeff, but I need something I absolutely know will work on a non-Lexan clear body and won't cost a fortune. Some of those are $8 just to ship!
In a few minutes here I'm going to try mixing my own using the "Bill's Method"

dickblick art supply carries all of the createx stuff. It acrylic so safe on non-lexan. Shipping shouldn't be more than $5.00 or so. They have a "candy root beer".

I thought I already had that one.
Glad you found what you want... Hopefully it will work!

Close, Jeff. Yours was "transparent" 4248 and "candy" is 4614.
Trying to make sense of all the types and colors of paints out there is futile.

You could look for a jar of gold metallic flakes, maybe from an art supply place such as TCP, Dixie Art & Airbrush, or Dick Blick. You could add these dry flakes to candy root beer & back it with solid gold. I bought a jar of purple metallic flakes in the past & added it to clear acrylics, but I'm not 100% sure where i mail ordered it. It took a good size tip to spray these flakes.

Look on the TCP Global website for a great selection of colors & flake sizes. That's not where mine came from.

Just a thought. Not to throw a stick in your spokes, but is "root beer" the color you really want? Based on Hires root beer & root beer barrel candy that I'm familiar with, root beer might be a darker brown than you're looking for. I don't have any painted Dynamic bodies around to compare them to & internet colors can be questionable. My '73 Buick Gran Sport which was a metallic brown with red & gold highlights would be too dark, but my '75 Datsun 280Z in a metallic copper, looked similar to some of the Dynamic photos.
When you have time, check out Amazon's "metallic craft acrylic paint". They advertise a bunch of them.
Parma has Fasglitter.

I can always fiddle with it when it arrives, but at least I'm starting with something that's gonna get me close to begin with.

Hi Pablo,
Is this close to the color you are looking for?
It is a metallic with nice gold "sparkle".
