It would help to know if you need a car built to a rule set and what track you want to run on.

Most track owners offer that service. He can help with tuning for that track.

It also helps keep the track you plan to run on open.

As Martin said, your first place to look is at whatever track you plan to run/race at.  Besides the (slight) benefit for the local track owner, you get to try it out right in front of the guy who sold it to you, which isn't going to happen with an online situation.  The track owner can also be of help with choosing a type/class of car that is locally popular.

If you have a local track you want to race at, go watch the guys race the kind of car you want.    When they are done racing ask one of the fast guys to sell you his car.   Probably one will do it, you said you don't care how much you pay   Yo will start off with a fast, successfully set up car.   Then if you want another one built  probably one of the guys at the local raceway would do it for you.   If you come here looking for a builder, you will be able to show them  the car you bought and they will know just what works at your track.

Jack, since you are in Wichita, please know that the only commercial racing is a drag strip in Winfield.

Yes that was one of the tracks. There was on one downey Av and one on Bellflower Ave. The Archery Lanes were awesome. I graduated from Warren High in 76.

Team burrito the problem is we don’t have a track in Wichita. I will have to go to Dallas and Illinois which is all good.

Jack, you might want to try and seek out local guys who race in their basements, garages and in my case "their pole barns". Right here on Slotblog and on Home Racing World would be a good place to start. Go to the "Club and Home Slot Racing" forum and post there. I didn't see any home tracks listed in Kansas but that doesn't mean they aren't out there.

Here's a link to Home Racing World. https://www.homeracingworld.us/

Lot's of basement dwellers out there, we've got 9 here in the Cincinnati area that I know of.

Team Burrito the advice I am getting is to find a track and go with what they run at the track. So that will be Dallas and Illinois which are the closest tracks. I like Can Am and FI but we will see what they run. I was looking at DiFalco controllers.

You can't go wrong with a DiFalco controller. I have two of them.

my advise is buy your car at that track. that's what keeps the doors open & you should always support your local track, wherever it may be. my nearest track is 95 miles & it's uphill both ways. I buy what I can at the track & order parts online when I have to. you can't race on the track if it's not there. good luck & remember to have fun.
