MMW will host a one day event in conjunction with ORS to cotribute to Cindy McMasters in her battle. All proceeds will go to Cindy.

The classes will be IRRA® Can-Am, OCC GT1, and FNRS GTP.

There will also be a raffle for all including online entries. Details to be announced in the near future.

There will be no plaques or awards as that just cuts back on the amount being contributed.

Any one wanting to sponsor a class or contribute a prize for the raffle or door prize please contact me.

Thank yo . The fact this race falls on Valentines Day weekend is not coincidental. Everyone that knows Cindy knows what a sweetheart she is!

Cindy wanted to post something about the benefit races being held in her behalf. However her surgery and all the things that must be done to prepare for it didn't give her time to do so. As you can imagine it's has been a busy and hectic several months with a lot of lows and very few bright spots. She did write down her thoughts and asked me to put them together and post.

But first an update. Many of you know that she was diagnosed with a very rare form of bone cancer. This all started on April 29 with an x-ray because of hip pain we all thought was arthritis. What was discovered after numerous tests and imaging was a rare form of osteosarcoma. In fact her tumor was biopsied and the DNA was sequenced and was found to be something not seen before. An unusual fusion they called it.

After two chemo infusions separated by an eight day hospital stay because of a severe infection of her chemo port she had surgery on Nov. 1, 2019. The operation lasted just a few minutes short of 14 hours and involved 4 surgeons. They removed her hip joint ball along with a good portion of her left side pelvic bone. Some of her internal plumbing had to be removed or rerouted. With nothing really left to attach an artificial hip ball to, and considering that is no longer standard procedure due to infection risk, she is moving forward with what is known as a flail hip. Google it. Pretty strange but very doable. We have met people who have one. Recovery is 12 to 18 months because she basically needs to learn to walk again. I am supposed to let you know that "She will be back".

Now her words.......she doesn't even know where to start expressing her appreciation for all the love and support the slot racing community has shown. She says she never truly felt part of the "group" because she doesn't race and has only been around slot racing since we started hosting the R4. Please accept her apology for feeling that way because its obvious she was wrong and she is extremely honored to be considered one of the guys. She is humbled and grateful that people she has never met, some she sees only once a year, and of course the regulars, think enough of her to give so much of their time and money to help her through this terrible time. She wants you to know that the slot racing fraternity is an incredible group of caring and compassionate people. You are all AWESOME.

My words: I couldn't agree with her more. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Please continue to pray for her. Her journey is far from over. And even though she is only one day out of surgery all signs point to her passing one of the biggest hurdles like A ROCK STAR. I LOVE HER.

Prayers for Cindy, glad to hear the first hurdle has been passed.

Can anyone point me to the OCC rules, in case I manage to make it out for this? (I found the FNRS rules...)

Thanks for the kind words John. The OCC (Ohio Challenge Cup) has a FB group with their rules. I think they are also on SB but I honestly don’t know where.

Prayers for a full recovery. Having something rare, beating it, and coming back from the brink is a true testament of resilience. And Love.

Godspeed, Cindy.
