Seven locals showed up to race GT1 and a Mixed race at Electron Raceway on 10/7/19. The track was a bit tight but racing was close as usual. Bob walked away with wins in both contests.

Time to run LeMans Trials had been set aside; however, no one chose to time trial any of their existing cars. A few new cars are in the works but not yet ready for prime time. I think it is time to wrap up the Trials. The plan is to run Trials two more times. That would bring us to 11/4/19. I will raise this issue at the STR race on 10/14.

Mixed Race

The grid was populated with a mix of Trans-Am and Sports Cars. All were True Scale with the exception of Mikes OSCAR based Ferrari 599.

The initial heat featured three of the four top seeds. Bob won the initial heat while Rich was second about a half lap down. Joe managed only 20.7 laps (two laps behind the leader).  Rich managed to close the gap on Bob in heat #2 to only three sections.

James (4th seed) entered the race in heat #4. It seemed from the outset that his Ford GT had handling problems. James managed only 19.2 laps in the first heat putting him out of contention for the top spot.
The race was decided in the final heat. Rich and Bob began the heat only a section apart and would be fighting for the top spot. James and Joe were more than two laps behind the leaders and would be fighting for the bottom step of the podium.  Near the end of the heat, Rich began closing the gap on Bob; however an unforced error sealed Richs fate. Bob won the race with 93.1 laps. Rich was second with 92.8 laps.

Meanwhile James and Joe battled it out for the bottom step of the podium. James was able to widen the gap during the heat and in the end, James finished third with 89.1 laps, about a lap ahead of fourth place Joe

GT1

The GT1 race featured some very fast cars. The top four all had a chance for a good podium finish running fast laps from 4.646 seconds (Bob) to 4.804 seconds (Joe).

The first heat featured three of the top four seeds. James won the heat with Bob about a half lap down. Rich made a couple of unforced errors and ended up about a lap and a half behind the leaders. The gap between James and Bob remained constant throughout heat #2.

Joe, the fourth seed entered the contest in heat #4 and managed 22.1 laps (three sections behind Rich).
Again it came down to the final heat. Bob was a lap ahead of the nearest competitor (James). In the battle for the bottom step of the podium, Joe was about a half lap ahead of Rich. Neither James nor Rich was able to overtake their rivals. So, in the end it was Bob, James, Joe and Rich for first through fourth.
