New motors from Mid-America at a great price.

Eagle 25 25k motor - $9.99.

Eagle 18 18k rental motor - $9.99.

Both have four tapped screw holes for mounting in traditional chassis.

Tracks may purchase these motors from ERI tomorrow. Other motors are on the way, this batch was on the fast boat.

Not even close, maybe half as fast.

These are for a totally different class of car.

Great for a 1/32 car but I wouldn't trust them for a 24-hour race until I ran one for a long time.

Think AWRA Womp classes and store rentals. 18K is a standard plastic 1/32 motor speed.

He has a new motor called the "Eagle" which is supposed to be on par with the hawk 7.

Hi Roger,

Both have four tapped screw holes for mounting in traditional chassis.

I have been searching a long time for  a sealed FK130 motor that had north/south/east/west mounting screw provisions.

That's great!

Just a couple of thoughts on these new motors...

I love the four mounting hole design.  I mentioned this to Tim H. at JK and he liked the idea but cited tooling costs as a problem and nothing has come of my suggestion.  I also proposed allowing racers to drill a fourth hole in the JK Hawk Retro and the idea was more or less summarily dismissed by the IRRA BoD, and much to my surprise it had very little support from the racers-at-large on Slotblog.

The stickers are nice but the motors need to have a positive identification mark (laser etched) like the JK.  Otherwise what's to keep someone from just moving the stickers around to mask what motor they are using.

I agree on the stickers and etching Jay.

The screw holes are nice but not a game changer.

So these are going to be alternatives to the Hawk 7 and Retro Hawks?  I hope they perform the same,  the last thing we need is another "Motor war"! :)

Tim Neja   the motors run the same speed, they just keep brakes for about 5000 laps

the new stickers self destruct if you try to remove them.

plus they will be a $1 cheaper

They will have to be submitted to the IRRA for approval, then evaluated, before their use is IRRA  legal.

These self destructing stickers will likely destruct from the various chemicals used during the break-in procedures employed by many.

That may severely reduce their popularity even if the motors are ever approved by IRRA

Looks like a nice motor, a buck cheaper and brakes for 5000 laps. Plenty of racing out there without the IRRA stamp of approval.

What is the magnet material?
