Whoever Sheman is, he certainly knows how to bend wire & brass rod. I don't think I've ever seen such a detailed space tube chassis before. Thanks for sharing the photos Mike.
P.S. I'd like to get a look at the guy's chassis jig(s), but I wouldn't be surprised if be builds sub-assemblies for a later final assembly.

I have been wondering how a space frame like that runs. Zero flex but cool as heck!
Need to build one I guess.

I just noticed these pics are really making the rounds on FB.
He appears to be from Chambersburg, Pa. and races here;

That is taking realism to the nth degree. The only thing he could have done better would be if he actually made the frame
from magnesium tube like the real car. Magnificent. For a long time I have wanted to do a chassis like that for a Maserati
birdcage. Might try it, now.
PS; note the proper "scuffing" of the front tires!

Thank you for those pictures Mike. That's a nice track lay-out those fells have.

No reason for it not to run fine.I have been wondering how a space frame like that runs. Zero flex but cool as heck!

Sherman not only races there, he owns the track.
I (and four or five others) helped him install the braid some years ago:
Sherman is a member of the IHSR (Interstate Home Slot Racers) group. You can see the IHSR banner on the right side of the photo in post #6. They are on SlotBlog; you can look them up here
They race 1/32 cars on various member's home tracks in PA, MD, VA and WV.

I have the good fortune to be a member of that group. Sherman is a builder and driver par excellence. He is also an all around good guy and very generous with his skills and knowledge in helping others up their game. We have half a dozen routed tracks in an area spread from northeastern W.Va to the Harrisburg PA area. Our season runs from September to May with roughly 2 racing days per month drawing 12-18 drivers and a few summer "special events" like team enduros.

My comment on chassis stiffness is a chassis will be less stiff if it's constructed using 60/40 solder rather than a silver solder. I would think that a space frame 's stiffness would depend on the type of material used for the tubing as much as it's design.

I love space frames.......especially this one.
