Dom's was the host for the final race before we kick off in full swing for the winter points series. As usual the track was awesome, the food great, and the entries good for the middle of summer. Thanks again to Dom who once again presented us with a great venue to race at and for running the race which did not allow him to race himself.

The presence of world famous racer, historian, collector, and author Philppe de Lespinay and the go father of scratchbuilding Bob Emott moved the event up to a whole higher level. Philippe spent his practice time in the pits instead of on the track, helping racers, checking out old cars, and of course talking D3 motor propaganda. LOL. I am sure with more track time he easily could have made the A.

Along with F1s there was also a Flexi GT race and a special TSR race for charity.

Noose got the 15 F1s and 10 Flexi cars through tech in record time. Probably due to Liquid Lou borrowing a car instead of trying to tech in one of his own...

Concours was up first and Bob Emott was elected to judge the winners.





Lou Cicconi's Noose-painted Cooper was first, Noose's Ferrari was second, and Ken Piccola's Noose Cooper was third.

Ray Carlisi was the last driver up to qualify and on his second lap he took the pole and unplugged. I believe this was the first time Ray has been TQ.

The semi was run as a round robin with two move-up to the A Main.



Noose was 3rd in the B Main, just missing the move-up to the A Main. Dave DeMott 1st and Mike Spisak Jr. 2nd taking the last A Main spot. The B Main was a crash-fest, maybe the worst ever with track calls every other lap it seemed. Maybe there was a full moon which would explain the carnage in the TSR race, or simply people need more practice at Dom's... It certainly is not the track... I pulled out in the next to last heat rather then get more pissed off even though I was in the move-up. Sometimes you need to not do something when it is no longer fun...

Jimmy Roselli drove a great race to finish 2nd. Jimmy was last seasons "B" driver champion. Matt Bruce is king of the F1s, notching up another victory. Ray Carlisi's rocket was neutralized by a torn body in the first couple of heats that hampered performance the whole main. Ray still managed to get a 3rd out of it.

Lou Cicconi was 4th with a slightly down on power car. Harry did what Harry does, turn rocket ship laps (the second fastest of the day) but having trouble stringing more than one in a row together (probably the wing car in his blood). Mike Jr. had a super flexi short car that had too much bite; Mike knows how to fix it for next time. Rob Kurylo, our "Kimi", had the anvil fall about the 4th heat when his car just stopped for no reason, The next heat it worked fine without doing anything at all. Dave Demott lead early but got hand cramps that shot up his arm causing him to wall his car and drop out. Dave's had was still cramped up long after the main was finished.

So Matt once again drove brilliantly and took another win. Matt has proven over and over he is one of the best ever and is becoming a very good builder, for a little kid. LOL .Matt, great job!

Matt Bruce's winner. Matt built his own chassis. He based it on his Gorski F1 that has run so well. He added shaker tubes and more rear bracing on his version. Note the std. front tires this time. Beautiful job, Matt... Red Fox Cooper, Parma/GT1 7/28 gears, Red Fox guide, Alpha rear tires, Bruce front tires.

Jimmy Roselli's 2nd place car. This is the same F1 Jimmy has been using since Retro started on the East Coast. tonyp chassis, Red Fox Cooper, Parma/GT1 gears, Slick 7 guide, JK fronts, JK rears.



112.6 grams. This is the last time this car will run with the front suspension uprights outside the body. It will be converted over easily for the winter series when the full IRRA rules take effect. Controller by Ruddock.



Ray Carlis's TQ and 3rd place rocket. The nose of the body ripped in the first couple of heats and upset the handling, especially on the straight. This is the complete combination Ray used to win the F1 event at "The Track" in MD. So far Ray's Motor "Lucifer" was run in a 500 lap F1 race at Dom's, he won F1 and I was second in Can-Am in MD with it, Ray was second at Zep, used it at HV and now at Dom's. Lots of time without any work except some cleaning with Trinity motor cleaner between races. Same brushes and springs... tonyp/Warmack chassis, O/S Cooper, Parma/GT1 7/28 gears, Red Fox guide, JK treated rears, Chicagoland fronts.



106 grams, controller by Cidex.



Lou Cicconi walked in, borrowed this car, put it in the main, and finished 4th. Not bad for a 1:1 washed-up race car driver. LOL... Lou could have used some more horsepower but did a good running with the leaders early on. tonyp chassis, Noose/O/S Cooper, Pro Slot motor (removed), Bruce/GT-1 gears, Red Fox guide, BIR rear tires, and Chicagoland fronts.



112.5 grams, Third Eye controller.



Harry Boudreau turned the second fastest lap in the main and was 5th with his new F1. All the pans in the back and sides are .032" while the center floating pan is .063", centralizing all the weight. O/S Cooper, Parma/GT1 7/28 gears, Red Fox guide, JK treated rears, JK fronts.

Mike Spisak Jr. used this car to finish 2nd in the B main and 6th in the A. Spisak chassis, Cooper body, Parma/GT1 gears, Mike used an 8 tooth pinion... hmmm. Parma guide, JK front and rear tires.

Dave DeMott won the B main and lead early in the A until his arm cramped up. Gorski chassis, Cooper body, Parma/GT1 7/27 gears, Red Fox guide, JK tires all around.

Between the F1 and Flexi races we ran a TSR IROC style race where the cars stayed on the lane and the drivers rotated. The $10. entry fee was for charity. Philippe had all the cars ready to go (I am sure he forced Tore and Bryan to prep them all). It was a fun event and showed how good or bad some of the drivers really are when it comes to just trying to stay on.. It is amazing people could crash so much with these. But the best drivers come out on top.

Mike Spisak Jr. was second, Matt Bruce picked up his third win of the day. Damn, he is good! Noose bugged me to run his car and I beat him with his loaner again. I never tried it until they said go. I figured if it was a lump I could use it to try and hit Ray Carlisi's head while he was marshaling and at least get some pleasure from the day. After I realized in the third heat I was running with the choke from the IROC race and turned it off it got pretty fast, just missing 2nd by five feet.

John Molnar builds better and better each effort. This was his best-handling F1 yet. It worked very well. Red Fox Cooper body, Parma/GT-1 7/27 gears, Slick 7 guide, JK tires all around.

It was good to have Mike Spisak Jr. back racing with us after a long absence. Good job today, Mike!



PdL explaining to Lou Cicconi (Red Fox USA) why none of his bodies are D3 legal. LOL.



But they still stayed friends. Lou has a big collection of old slot cars. Maybe PdL will need to come out again to check them out.



Whenever PdL shows up, all the old stuff surfaces. Cool Pitman can in a Dynamic chassis.



These three guys all worked for Trinity as kids and I tortured them everyday. It is amazing they did not grow up to be murderers, or completely insane, Kenny (LT) Picolla, Rob (Boylay) Kurylo, and Harry (Da Horse) Boudreau. It is great having them racing together.


Ray Carlisi seems to have trouble holding his head up. I told him it was larger than normal. LOL


Bob Emott, PDL and Noose, All masters at their slot car expertise. PDL just finished telling Noose the story on how he beat him at the Nutley Invitational 30 years ago for the 17th time.


Mike Div made his first appearance at one of our races.. Mike is a well-known vintage slot car racer.

So far Ray's Motor "Lucifer" was run in a 500 lap F1 race at Dom's, he won F1 and I was second in Can-Am in MD with it, Ray was second at Zep, used it at HV and now at Dom's.

OK so what do we name my motor that Jay, Rande, and I used to run over 3,700 laps at the Columbus Enduro??? It was as fast in the last heat of the race as it was the first heat.

With that lap total, that's like running fourteen mains on one motor.

Thanks Tore. Almost had the Dokktor running my back-uip car but he chose to run one of Ray's cuzz it was just a slightly bit more hooked-up.

And..Yes..I am. Had the lead for a good part of the race then got to those killer top lanes. They do me in. It was a crashfest too. Mike Jr. actually thought I had him but he was ahead by around 4 sections.

Hey now....... there were 5 other motors that ran at least 2900 or more laps.

If anyone was illegal.... it was that Butch..... he had BIG horsepower and their motor was faster than ours.

LMAO....... No one blew up or slowed down that I could tell because of their motor. Some cars had noisy gears or maybe some other damage to cause them to slow a bit.

I can't tell my brushes wore that much...... from looking at the motor the brushes appear to be the same length as when we started the race. Rande kept telling me to check and see how much brush "dust" was on the inside of the body and there wasn't any. Even the brakes seemed to be the same throughout the entire race. I was afraid if the brushes got too short, the springs would lighten up and lose brakes along with the magnets getting weaker as well.

I used Gold Dust brushes as usual. Never never use Mura brushes.

Pleas describe a "Lou Cicconi" moment.

Ya know...drinking, smoking and driving can be dangerous.

I think getting in at 3 AM from the Long Island race due to horrible traffic giving him 3 hours of sleep didn't help. That along with the fact that Dom's track is very tough to learn. He did fine though and was in great spirits all day. We enjoyed having him. So when you comin East you throw down your challenge?

Doug, he was too busy promoting rather than practicing. LOL....

Ray loaned him a pretty good Gorski F1. Dom's is not a hard track to go fast on or to drive staying on, it is just hard to do both. He did a good job in the semi. He stayed on and lead until the last couple of sit-outs came back in (round robin).

We were excited to have him here at our race...
