As some may already know, I announced at our last driver's meeting that I would be stepping aside as director of NorCal Retro. This was a difficult decision but next year would have been my 12th as director and several factors have combined to make this the best choice for me. I will not just walk away completely but rather, I will do scheduling and rules updates for next season over the next few weeks. I will also still continue to build and repair stuff, help with tuning and race pretty much as I have in the past but probably a little less often.

I am very pleased to announce that Justin Colvin and Chris Crofts have stepped up to take over the program. Both of these guys have a lot of high level and international racing experience and both have picked up the Retro game very quickly. I will help in the first few months of next season and of course will be available to help as necessary including covering for them in October when they are at the worlds.

I wish to express sincere gratitude to all the racers and the raceways as well as the many online correspondents that have helped to make NorCal Retro successful over these last 11+ years.

Jim, stepping aside will probably be best so you can rest a bit more and hopefully beat that vertigo bug. Wishing you all the best.

Take care and enjoy some extra time.

We are sorry to see you step down--the strength of the program has been built around your dedication!  So THANK YOU for all you do for Norcal Retro Racing!!  I've just started racing with you--you've built a great group of racers --  good to see you'll still be involved.  Good luck to Justin and Chris--- looking forward to racing more in the North as I get ready to retire in a couple of years.

See you soon Jim---prayers for better health and feeling good soon

Hey Jim,

I'd like to personally thank you for your efforts over the past two seasons I've been racing retros. You've made a newcomer feel welcome, and supported in my climb up the learning curve. I may not be at the top of the leader board (yet), but I doubt that many others have left the events having had more fun than I have. It's been a pleasure following your direction and racing with you. I wish you the best moving forward and hope we'll still see you at some of the races.

Thanks to all for the kind thoughts. The biggest factor in this is the manner in which that danged vertigo thingie has developed. Basically, it's not going away and not really getting much better. At times, it's manageable but at other times less so. There are times when it is absolutely debilitating and although those are rare, they are there nonetheless. But those are not the only things. For the last year or so, my (real) job has ramped up in intensity. That's not my ideal but I understand the need and at some levels, it is challenging and rewarding. At other levels.....just a PITA but.....you know!

When the time comes that your beloved hobby starts to feel like a job........that's a time to reevaluate. I think I'm at that point. As I mentioned, I don't intend to drop off the face of the earth and I will still be involved at some level(s). Heck! I'll probably build more and post more on the developments. However, the guys that are stepping in are very sharp and while I intend to help as needed, it is not my intention to try and micro-manage them. They will have their own ideas and more power to 'em.

Change generally happens for a reason and it's usually very good.

Jim,

Good luck to you. It was a lot of fun when we used to race together.
